INSPIRATION ARCHIVE

The future is not some place we are going to, but a place we are creating. The paths to it are not found, but made, and making those pathways changes both the maker and the destination.
The right path is close at hand, yet man often searches afar.
Successful people are dreamers who have found a dream too exciting, too important to remain in the realm of fantasy and who, day by day, hour by hour, toiled in the service of their dreams until they can touch it with their hands and see it with their eyes.
Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one's favour all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would come his way.
A gem cannot be polished without friction, nor a man perfected without trials.
If you are failing to plan, then you are planning to fail!
Ultimate power is the ability to produce the results you desire most and create value in the process.
Power is the ability to change your life, to shape your perceptions, to make things work for you and not against you. Real power is shared, not imposed.
It's the ability to define human needs and fulfil them - both your needs and the needs of the people you care about.
It's the ability to direct your own personal kingdom - your own thought processes, your own behaviour - so you produce the precise results you desire.

Maybe discouraged and faltering, but not helpless.
When you do something for me that I can and need to do for myself, you contribute to my fear and weakness.
But when you accept as a simple fact that I do feel what I feel, no matter how irrational, then I quit trying to convince you and can get about the business of understanding what's behind this irrational feeling.
And when that's clear, the answers are obvious and I don't need advice.
So, please listen and just hear me, and if you want to talk, wait a minute for your turn; and I'll listen to you.
When the student is ready, the master will appear.
There may come a time in your life, when you have exhausted all that can be done, and the only thing left to do, is not quit!
You may know me.
I'm your constant companion.
I'm your greatest helper, I'm your heaviest burden.
I will push you onward or drag you down to failure.
I am at your command.
Half the tasks you do might as well be turned over to me, I'm able to do them quickly and I'm able to do them the same every time if that's what you want.
I'm easily managed, all you have to do is be firm with me.
Show me exactly how you want it done, after a few lessons I'll do it automatically.
I am the servant of all great men and women, of course, servant of the failures as well.
I've made all the great men who have ever been great.
And, I've made all the failures, too.
But I work with all the precision of a marvellous computer, with the intelligence of a human being.
You may run me for profit or you may run me to ruin, it makes no difference to me.
Take me. Be firm with me and I'll put the world at your feet.
Be easy with me and I will destroy you.
Who am I?
I am habit!
The teeth are hard and fall out.
The tongue is soft yet remains.
When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all up hill.
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh.
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.
Life is difficult with it's twists and turns,
As everyone of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When we might have won had we stuck it out.
Don't give up though the pace seems slow,
You may succeed with another blow.
Success is failure turned inside out,
The silver tint of the cloud in doubt,
And you can never tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far.
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit,
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit!
Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and ignorant; they too have there story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery. But let not this blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be Yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not stress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, whatever your labours and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul. With all it's sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy.
I wondered why somebody didn't do something.
Then I realised, I was somebody.
To every person there comes in their lifetime that special moment when they are figuratively tapped on the shoulder and offered the chance to do a very special thing, unique to them and fitted to their talent: what a tragedy if that moment finds them unprepared or unqualified for the work which would be their finest hour.
A drop of water may be heated and it knows what it is like to be steam, it can be frozen and it knows what it is like to be ice, it can be part of a river, lake or ocean. It can be used for watering, working or drinking, yet it is still the same drop of water. So too we may experience many lives, yet we are still the same soul benefiting from the treasure of our experiences.
You can run, but ya can't hide!
The credit belongs to those who are actually in the arena, who strive valiantly; who know the great enthusiasms, the great devotions, and spend themselves in a worthy cause; who at best, know the triumph of great achievement; and who, at worst, if they fail, fail while daring greatly, so that their place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who know neither victory nor defeat.
Dreams are the blueprint of reality.
When the blind lead the blind,

I do not claim that the experience of the wilderness is the key to a happy life, but from my own experiences I know it can ameliorate some of the ills arising from the modern urban existence. The lights and shades of physical sensation are allowed a greater scope. Because in most wilderness trips there is an element of the unpredictable, we are at times confronted with cold, hunger, bewilderment and fatigue. Then we have to use with skill what simple equipment we can carry on our backs to achieve shelter, prepare food, and have a night's rest. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past... we cannot change the fact that people will act in a ceratain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude... I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you... we are in charge of our attitudes.
Carpe Diem! Rejoice while you ar alive; enjoy the day; live life to the fullest; make the most of what you have. It is later than you think.
Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be,
