WELCOME TO MY PHILOSOPHY PAGE


Since June 1982 I have studied 3 Chinese Martial Arts, Tai Chi Chuan (Original Yang Style), Pa Qua and Hsing-i at the Gary Martin Fung Fu Centre. In November 2003 I sat for and was successful in gaining a Masters Degree in all 3 arts (28 hours of examination by a most enigmatic Grand Master from Shanghai). Now days I contribute to the arts by assisting teaching at the centre as well as keeping my own training up to speed.

Apart from teaching me to defend myself, the art/s have been instrumental in guiding me in the way of life I now choose to lead. Over the years I have been inspired by the teachings of Lao Tzu, the father of Taoism.

On this page you will find there are 3 inspirational quotes (some are Taoist, some are ones I've composed but mostly they are just ones I have just picked up along the way). I update these on a weekly basis (usually Thursday) so don't forget to bookmark my site so you can see 3 new quotes every week!

You will notice that I do not credit the authors of the quotes. This is for three reasons. One is that there is often a lot of controversy over the original authors. Second is that I reckon it's better to contemplate the quote for what it means to you, rather than trying to imagine the context in which it was written.
