But right now, we are just getting started.
A Man and his Nipples
Bean asks: Why do men have nipples?
What a hell of a question!
I have taken it upon myself to research this question as well, pouring over reams of scientific and medical documents and text books. And after a heck of a long time I can tell you this: With all the money the country's government pours into useless grants, no one has studied this question or has a realistic scientific answer for it! Now THAT'S hard to believe!
When it comes right down to it, there is no real reason for men to have nipples. They are, like many human body parts (such as spleens, appendixes, earlobes, and arm pit hair), redundant.
Whether your school of thought runs to creationist or evolutionist, men's nipples can be at least partially explained. To have two subspecies, men and women, originating from one, would not the two have similar body characteristics? The two are virtually the same, excepting the reproductive organs of course, so in fitting with that the two would have nipples located in the same place; for one functional, the other not. They also round out the image of the human body; consider how men would look without them. Evolutionist would probably point to a past inherited trait from our earliest simian ancestors, to a time when the feeding may have been possible from either parent. There is no denying the similarities between the nipples of a male and those of a female. They are both basically the same size, same placement, and same colouration. And they are both riddled with nerves that when stimulated can be an active part of foreplay (yes, men's too!), but that's a different subject entirely.
Anyway, I've rambled enough about this subject already. Thanks for the question! The Truth As I See It!
