Speaking of historical monuments, the 'Stadhuys', (Malaccan call them 'red houses', they were built by the Dutch in 1650) clock tower and the fountain (built by the British) are those which worth a visit.

The 'Nyonya and baba' (or 'peranakan') are unique people. They have unique culture that blend Chinese and Malay elements. Some of these people still live in the 'long houses' of Jonker Street. These houses mostly furnished with antique furnitures which are very good handicrafts. Some of these houses are open for visiting by tourist.
