Sentiments of my home...
The sayings, "Home is where the heart is" and "There's no place like home", perfectly
describe the way that I feel about the island I call home. Home should be somewhere in
which you feel completely comfortable, fell safe and happy. Home should also be like a
fortress from all the tormoil of your life; somewhere you can run to for comfort when
there's nobody to talk to. When you are away from home, it's difficult to fit in, especially
into a more hostile environment(then you resort to speaking to the WEB, as is my case. Is any
body out there listening to me, or do you think I'm nuts? Let me
know what you think of me, or do you want to know who
in the world I am?).
Anyway, this page is a page where I feel I can express my feeling about the nature isle. Enjoy it,
and I hope you can get some inspiration from this(my only purpose is to write down what I feel at the time.
Feel free to send suggestions as to what you would like to see here.). Those of you who are not for sentiment
might want to visit the RastaMan's Hut . You don't
smoke? Well, that's OK, you can learn more about my Carribean home
instead. But what ever you do, I hope you have fun. And do come back!!

Dominica
is my favourite island, most probably because that's where my family originated. I've
lived there for the past 9 years, and I can truly say it's paradise. You may say somewhere
else is paradise, and I wouldn't say no; but just as beauty is in the eye of the holder,
paradise is measured in the treasure buried within. And for me, there are lots of treasures
here to find.
The first thing that comes to mind is the freedom. Being able to go almost anywhere without the
fear of someone taking your life or being confronted by some pervert or the other. Being able
to build a home without bars, to be able to push your head out of your barless windows and doors.
The freedom to be who you really are; black in heritage, and not have to run for your
life to uphold that truth. Rascism is a word that is looked upon here with curiousity; we don't
know the sentiment of this word, because everyone considers everyone else like himself.
If it was this way all over the world, the earth as we know it would be a better place to live.
My second treasure that I dug up helped me pass my time in this otherwise dull environment. The beach and
were my favorite spots on the island. Donkey Beach(I have no idea why it's called that!) was close to
my home in Canefield, and you can bet I visited it very often! The crystal clear waters of the rivers
were icy cold, but non-the-less inviting.
I lived in the town of Canefield, which made it easier for me to get to school, in contrast to coming from
Grand Bay; which saved both time and money. Canefield is quite diffrent from GrandBay in many ways. Thus I
enjoyed both cities equally. I
