In November 1962 was celebrated in San Salvador the National Eucaristic Congress, wich reason the issue of stamps whose main motif is the estatue of the "Salvador del Mundo" located in "Plaza Las Americas" in San Salvador. This monument has crossed the world in these stamps and in some turist postcards, doing easy the identification of this monument with our small country El Salvador.

These stamps have values of 6, 10 and 25 cent; also souvenir sheets with nominal values of 60 and 80 cents. These last values appear with the title of this article.

These stamps have a perforation of 12 x 11.5 and were issued on April 16, 1964; the souvenir sheet are imperforated.

 

The image of 5 1/2 ton was not made to be placed in any park. Originally, it was in "Los Ilustres" Cemetary in the tumb of Dr. Manuel Enrique Araujo, ex-President of the Republic.
