Stand Back...I think we have a winner!!


     NFL Gameday has set a new standard in the sports gaming genre, specifically football. Great graphics, sounds, and some addictive gameplay make this one a definite keeper. Very responsive and realistic controls add to the value of the game.
     The graphics are very good, but are nothing to write home about. They effectively portray the game of football, but are not spectacularly groundbreaking. The rendered helmets are a nice touch, but add nothing to the game itself. Onscreen visuals such as tackles, spins, and jumps are accurately shown, and make the game fun to play.
     The sounds fall into the same category as the graphics. The intro sounds are good, but everything is pretty much average. The actual sound effects are only average, but their timing is superb. For example, the crowd is always rooting for the home team. The opening music, as well as the in game music, is also very nicely done.
     NFL Gameday isn't the most original football game around, but it has some nice original elements. Nice plays and on-field motions add a lot to the FunFactor, but it has all been done before in Madden.
     All elements of the game control very nicely. Plays are easy to call, and the players are very easy to control. Tackles are easily accomplished, as is creating holes in the enemy's defensive line. One major gripe we do have, though, is the lack of a multiplayer option. All around, it lets you get the job done.
     NFL Gameday is an absolute blast to play. It is easily one of the best games for the PSX, and probably will be for quite some time. It is worth its weight in gold. Buy this game!!
