Rise 2:The Resurrection Codes
This could have been a SNES cart

Rise 2:The Resurrection is a major disappointment. It offers no original gameplay, graphics, sounds, and gives no one enough reasons to buy it. Poor graphics, sounds, and play mechanics really hurt this game and will doom it forever to weekend rentals and nothing more.
The graphics are substandard for the PlayStation. The fighters are way too small, with ridiculously choppy animation. The fatality graphics are just plain awful. For example, one of the characters seems to just stick his "arms" out, and his opponent is suddenly blown apart. It is pretty pathetic, and uses no PSX power whatsoever. This worthless game could have been presented in its entirety on the Super NES or SEGA Genesis.
The sound effects and music are just plain terrible. The opening beeps when selecting options are NES quality, and the game clunks are no better. The music standard bass-drums, but it does have a decent sound to it. Overall, though, turn the volume way low on this one.
Like all standard 2-D fighting games, the object here is to beat your opponent in a two out of three match, with the winner killing his opponent in a most boring fashion. Because all of the fighters are robots, the fatalities are even more lame. Each character has four or five moves, with a super move that can be executed when the power bar at the bottom of the screen is maxed out. This is all standard stuff, and this game has nothing to make itself stand out.
Controlling all of these lame robots is a tedious chore that is not worthwhile. Though all of the moves are executed using the standard fireball motion, they still seem fairly difficult to pull off. Fatalities are worthless, because the robots just explode with a couple of the worst fire effects seen on the PlayStation to date.
Needless to say, this game got boring halfway through the first round. There is no motive to play the game, because it's all been done much better in other games. It is not even worth a weekend rental, and is really no better than the original Rise of the Robots, a game which I classify as one of the worst SNES games ever.
