Secret Characters for V-Tennis
A Tennis-sim worth buying!!

V-Tennis is a superb game which is suitable for players of all ages and skill levels. Incorporating several areas of play, several court varieties, and players of both gender with varying skill levels, the fun just never stops.
Graphically, V-Tennis is very fickle. Using most of the views presented in the option menu, the game is unplayable. The best solution is to create a custom angle which best suits your needs. The players are well animated polygon objects, with a ball that is large enough to be seen with ease. The ability to change the color of the ball is a nice feature as well.
The sounds are not spectacular. Simple ball-thud effects are effective, but the voice announcements are too robotic.
I haven't really played many tennis games before, so it's difficult to assess this game's originality. The custom angle creation seems like an innovative idea, as well as the changing ball color. Female players are also a welcome addition for the sake of realism. Since real player names couldn't be used, the likenesses of real players were used, which is a nice touch.
Though it accurately represents the game of tennis, the gameplay in V-Tennis sports a few significant problems. One such problem is that it is too easy to return a ball on a fly. In a heated match, most balls will never touch the court, because they can be hit on a fly. Thus, it becomes "V-Badminton" in a few situations. Also, when an angle is set to anything besides a head on angle, the ball will be nearly impossible to hit if it bounces in the player's blind spot. Even though the player may be located in the correct place to hit the ball, its angle will cause the player to miss. Though these are fairly minor errors, they affect the gameplay. On a good note, the players control very well and can be maneuvered with ease.
When playing against the computer in singles or doubles, this game is pretty fun. When playing doubles against the computer, it really shines. The strategy is intense, and so is the screaming when a shot flies past your partner. For frequent two-player enthusiasts, this is a must buy.
And now for the grades...
