| Beautiful 3-d rendered graphics-
Over 4,000 fully-rendered scenes and 1,000 QuickTime movies make Riven the most impressive game project ever (supposedly, some scenes take over an hour to render on Cyan's SGI Indigo Workstations)....The various islands which make up Riven are the largest wireframe models anyone is currently working with, each island contains several million polygons. |
| Interaction with various characters-
Unlike Myst, Riven will include many characters for you to interact with, the most notable of which will be Gehn and Catherine, two of the main characters. Upon first starting your quest, you shall meet Atrus. Atrus will give you a rather vague description of Gehn and Catherine, and as you play the game further, you shall learn more and more about the various characters, allowing you to come to your own conclusions about them. |
| Get into the game- Cyan
has sought to improve upon the immersive experience that Myst offered. They have used the same basic graphics engine, but they have made several noteworthy enhancements. Whereas Myst only used 256 colors for each age, Riven will use roughly 64,000 colors for each image. Riven will also take advantage of high-speed CDROM drives and MMX processors, as well as utilizing DirectX for the Windows '95 version. |
