Computer Games and Developments
The first computers did not have the simple graphics capabilities of even the old atari video game. My first computer in 1982 was a Sinclair ZX81 bought mail order from england as a kit. I had to build it. Had a whole 1k ram :) And I got the 16k ram expansion pack 2 months later. The whole thing cost $200.00
My second was an atari 800xl in 1985. Bought for $180.00 and the disk drive was $250.00 and a commodore 1702 monitor for $240.00 and after 6 months I added a 300 baud modem for $50.00 and a printer for $275.00 Upgraded to 1200 baud a year later. I heard my ex sold all but the monitor at a yard sale for $20 :)
My first PC was an IBM AT in 1991. 6 mhz. 1 meg ram. EGA video. 20meg hard drive. Paid $800 for it.
Next PC in 1994 was an IBM PS/2 mod 70 with 8meg ram and a 120meg hd. This was given to me by my job.
I have also managed to collect an IBM PS/2 mod 80 with a 486 board from somewhere. This computer weighs 48 lbs.
And my current computer is outdated already. I got it in 1995. A Packard Bell force 480. Only 75mhz. And only an 850meg hd :( I did manage to get 16 meg ram :) And I am the proud owner of a USR 56k sportster. But thats not impressive compared to the T3 I use at work. So I leave you with some related links.
The shareware revolution.
