Talah Rama stares at you, and smiles. "PSI powers are some of the main keys of EarthBound-it's just a big problem when the enemies use them against you! These are the spells, who can use 'em, who it hits, how much PP it costs, about how much damage it costs, what happens, and how useful it is. Thank goodness for this EarthBound Player's Guide." He then chuckles heartily. "Since I don't know how to do greek lettering of alpha, beta, gamma, and that other one, I'll just refer to the power number one as A, power number two as B, number three as C, and number for as.. you guessed it.. D." As you listen to what he says, you realize he knows an awful lot about PSI attacks. He's got a strange sense of humor, but hey-you didn't pay anything to get in. Listen to him. PSI "Special" Power A: Ness: Costs 10 PP: Hits all enemies: Hits about 40 to 120 HP: This is Ness' first REALLY good spell. It's very useful against the Titanic Ant and Captain Strong, but once you get Paula, it pretty much outlives its usefulness. Also, if an enemy has a Psychic Shield, the shield will be decreased by one. This is the spell that you name in the beginning with your "favorite thing". It is somewhat useful. Power B: Ness: Costs 14 PP: Hits all enemies: Hits about 90 to 270 HP: This spell is better than Power A, and only costs 4 PP more! Convinient! It's slightly more useful against many foes instead of one enemy, which you probably used Power A for. It also decreases an enemy's psychic shield by one. Power C: Ness: Costs 40 PP: Hits all enemies: Hits about 160 to 480 HP: Much more powerful than Power B, but costs a *lot* more. Save it for high levels when you have, like, a lot more max PP. It, of course, decreases an enemy's psychic shield by one. Power D: Ness: Costs 98 O_o PP: Hits all enemies: Hits about 320 to 960 HP: Incredibly powerful. Stronger than all three of the Powers A, B, and C combined. Unfortunetly, it totally drains your PP, so use it very sparaingly. It, big surprise, decreases an enemy's psychic shield by one. PSI Fire Power A: Paula: Costs 6 PP: Hits one row of enemies: Hits about 60-100: One of Paula's first spells. It won't do much, really... but it, fortunetly, decreases an enemy's psychic shield by one! *rolls eyes* Power B: Paula: Costs 12 PP: Hits one row of enemies: Hits about 120 to 200 HP: It's a little bit further up the road that Power A, but it still sucks, but it's low PP and it DOES hit a row.. this with PSI "Special" Power B could be useful against annoying flies or fobbies. It decreases an enemy's psychic shield by one. Yay. Power C: Paula: Costs 20 PP: Hits one row of enemies: Hits about 180 to 300: Somewhat better. It still sucks, but it has SOME use, because it decreases an enemy's psychic shield by one! I'm so totally abusing this joke.. Power D: Paula: Costs 42 PP: Hits one row of enemies: Hits about 240 to 400 HP: It's a lot better, but as soon as it gets strong, it starts costing too much PP. *sigh* Just give up on PSI Fire spells, and its psychic shield decreasing. PSI Freeze Power A: Paula, Poo: Costs 4 PP: Hits one enemy: Hits about 135 to 225: It's a nice attack to start out with, low cost and semi-strong, but it can get better. However, an enemy's psychic shield is decreased by 1! Yay!! Power B: Paula, Poo: Costs 9 PP: Hits one enemy: Hits about 270 to 450: What a great attack! It might freeze an enemy. Heh, PSI Freeze Power B is stronger than PSI Fire Power D! It's low PP and pretty strong... a definite love. And guess what? It decreases a psychic shield by 1! Power C: Paula, Poo: Costs 18 PP: Hits one enemy: Hits about 405 to 675: Very nice attack. Pretty much low PP, high chance of freezing an enemy, and high damage. It even looks pretty. And it decreases an enemy's psy-ahh, you know the rest. Power D: Paula: Costs 28 PP: Hits one enemy: Hits about 540 to 900: Poo can't use this attack, and that's a real shame, because this is an awesome attack. I mean.. really awesome. It even decreases an enemy's psychic shield by 1! PSI Thunder Power A: Paula, Poo: Costs 3 PP: 1 random enemy hit: Hits about 60 to 180: Ah, a boring attack. It hits about half the time, and when it does hit, it's weak. It decreases etc. etc. etc. Power B: Paula, Poo: Costs 7 PP: 2 random enemy hits: Hits about 60 to 180: It's only a good attack if you can't decide who to attack, 'cuz it hits a random enemy by shooting out two lightning bolts. Meaning you could hit one enemy twice, two enemies once, an enemy once, or no one at all. It decreases an enemy's psychic shield by 2... I mean, 1. Power C: Paula, Poo: Costs 16 PP: 3 random enemy hits: Hits about 100 to 300: See "Power B". :P *is too lazy to write* Power D: Poo: Costs 20 PP: 4 random enemy hits: Hits about 100 to 300: Eh... nag nag nag. Take a guess what happens. I bet you'll never guess that the enemy's psychic shield is decreased by 1! PSI Flash Power A: Ness: Costs 8 PP: Hits all enemies: An enemy cries, or may sometimes feel strange. Power B: Ness: Costs 16 PP: Hits all enemies: An enemy cries, feels strange, or in some cases becomes numb. Power C: Ness: Costs 24 PP: Hits all enemies: An enemy cries, feels strange, becomes numb, and in some rare cases, becomes unconcious. Power D: Ness: Costs 32 PP: Hits all enemies: An enemy cries, feels strange, becomes numb, and often becomes unconcious. PSI Starstorm Power A: Poo: Costs 24 PP: Hits all enemies: Hits about 270 to 450: Yay! This attack really rules. It's sorta high PP, but that's okay. It decreases the psychic shield of an enemy by 1 (noo!! Not this again!!) Power B: Poo: Costs 42 PP: Hits all enemies: Hits about 540 to 900: This thing is STRONG!!!!!! O_o And decreases an enemy's psychic shield by 1, too. Boy, just what I need! Those psychic shields really hassle me. PSI Life-Up Power A: Ness, Poo: Costs 5 PP: Heals one friend: Recovers about 75 to 125: Yay! Now you can heal allies! But, *sniff* it doesn't decrease an enemy's psychic shield!! Nooo!!!!! Power B: Ness, Poo: Costs 8 PP: Heals one friend: Recovers about 225 to 375: Wow! This is powerful healing! ^_^ Power C: Ness, Poo: Costs 13 PP: Heals one friend: Recovers all HP: Low PP for an awesomely powerful spell! Power D: Ness: Costs 24 PP: Heals all friends: Recovers about 300 to 500: For when everyone needs HP, this is a great attack! PSI Heal Power A: Ness, Poo: Costs 5 PP: Heals one friend: Heals colds, sunstroke, and sleepiness: Uh, hi! ^_^() (<--anime sweatdrop) Power B: Ness, Poo: Costs 8 PP: Heals one friend: Heals a cold, sunstroke, sleepiness, poison, nausea, crying, and feeling strange: Oo, how useful. (running low on conversation, ne?) Power C: Ness, Poo: Costs 20 PP: Heals one friend: Heals a cold, sunstroke, sleepiness, poison, nausea, crying, feeling strange, numbness, diamondize, and unconciousness: *pant pant* Power D: Poo: Costs 38 PP: Heals one friend: (aww, man..) Heals a cold, sunstroke, sleepiness, poison, nausea, crying, feeling strange, numbness, diamondize, and fully heals unconciousness: My hand hurts..oh well. With this attack, say bye bye hospital! PSI Magnet Power A: Paula, Poo: Costs 0 PP: Hits one enemy: Absorbs 1 to 8 PP: Out of PSI caramels? Power B: Paula, Poo: Costs 0 PP: Hits all enemies: Absorbs 1 to 8 PP: When you fight enemies traveling in groups, like Fobbys, this attack can REALLY help. PSI Shield Power A: Ness, Poo: Costs 8 PP: Shields one friend: It halves all received damage from attacks. Power B: Poo: Costs 10 PP: Shields one friend: It halves all received damage from attacks, AND hits that amount against the attacker. Power C: Ness, Poo: Costs 18 PP: Shields all friends: It halves all received damage from attacks on everyone. Power D: Poo: Costs 30 PP: Shields all friends: Works just like Power B on everyone. (there's that lazy streak again) PSI Shield (2) Power A: Paula: Costs 8 PP: Shields one friend: No damage from PSI attacks. Power B: Paula: Costs 14 PP: Shields one friend: Reflects a PSI attack back. Power C: Paula: Costs 24 PP: Shields all friends: Same as Power A, but on all allies. Power D: Paula: Costs 42 PP: Shields all friends: Same as Power B on everyone. Use against the Ghost of Starman in Onett: Trust me!
