Why make this page? When I first looked for Shining Force II pages on the internet, it was on a whim. I didn't think there would be Shining pages, much less other Shining fans online. To my surprise, there were. Once I realized there were other fans and sites out there, I wanted to put my page up and talk about all things Shining with the other Shining fans. :-) I was hoping the Shining following wouldn't die out at the time. I am happy to say that today, the online Shining community is bigger than ever. While it waxes and wanes periodically, I believe it has steadily grown.
I first got hooked on Shining Force II in the spring of 1996. My brother (Abat) purchased the game from a friend of his and we couldn't stop playing it on Genesis. I took an HTML class during the summer of 1996 (when the only existing Shining pages happned to be Moogie's and Sir Fil's!), but didn't get my own site until July 26, 1997. That was when I moved into this space on Geocities. At that time, I had a Warcraft II page set up, but that was about it. I worked on my Warcraft pages, but I realized what I really wanted was a Shining Force II page.
I opened this page September 30, 1997. It was derived from my Shining Force II HTML pages that I had created on my hard drive. It didn't turn out as I had envisioned, but I kept on updating and re-vamping it. I had originally intended my site to contain some hard-and-dried cut information, a simple, complete guide to the game. But as I continued working on the page, I realized that there was so much more to the game; there was the art, the graphics, the story...and so, I decided that I'd add all these other pages to it (fanfic, fan art, all sorts of galleries, etc). After countless hours, updates, and re-vampings, my page stands as it is today. :-)
