BACKGROUND: The Booster clan is a family of thoroughly insane entrepreneurs who became quite wealthy through a combination of petty theft and amusement park construction. The Booster family is notorious for their child-like mentality, which is reflected in their amusement parks, and the eccentric design of Booster Tower.
The current heir to the Booster throne, aptly named Booster spends much of his time playing with guests in his tower, especially his Snifit underlings, who spend most of their time catching beetles, and the rest of it catering to Booster's every whim.
Booster can be spotted by his wild eyes, bright red nose, and scruffy beard. He likes to wear a red costume including a large helmet complete with horns and aviator's goggles (it's a family tradition for the Boosters to invent a wild hat or hairstyle for themselves).
EVOLUTION: While you can't follow Booster's evolution through the Mario games, you can see how his family has changed over the years, thanks to the portraits hanging in Booster Tower. I particularly like the "punk" booster with the shades and the mowhawk, as well as the "shriner" booster with that funky fez.

BATTLE PLAN:
Attack Pattern: Booster will fight you if he finds you hiding behind his curtains three times. He likes to use bombs, which are fairly powerful, as well as an attack called "Loco Express", where he runs down one member of your party using his train - this attack is very dangerous, and may even kill a character with full hit points. He also uses the occassional regular attack.
Basic Strategies: For starters you'll have to defeat the three Snifits. Attack them one at a time. You could have Mallow use Thunder on them as well, but it's not that useful.
Once the Snifits are gone, it's time to fight Booster. If Mallow is in the party, have him heal when required, and attack Booster with good, old-fashioned timed hits as often as possible.
Advanced Strategies: If Geno is in your party, you should try to have him use his Boost attack on each of your characters, using a timed hit, so that they'll gain defensive power (this will protect them from the Loco Express). If you don't know how to use a timed-hit with Geno's Boost attack (you have to try to press A just as the arrows stop pointing up), then don't waste your time on it, the offensive gain alone isn't worth it, in my opinion. Most other magic attacks are either useless, or no better than the regular ones, although it might be worthwhile to have Bowser Terrorize him, it could reduce Booster's offensive and defensive power. (To be honest, I don't know exactly what Terrorize does!)
Booster's regular attack involves winding up a couple of times, and punching you right in the face! It looks bad, but it's actually not as powerful as his other attacks, and it's not too hard to block. Just try to press A as he comes out of the second wind-up, and punches you.

Racing: After you escape from Booster's Tower, you'll have to chase him up a hill to Marrymore. If you can touch Booster on the way up, the Princess will give you a flower, which increases your FP. You can actually increase your FP quite a bit during this part of the game, with some practice!
Essentially, you have to stomp on barrels and the Snifits to get closer to Booster. If you get hit by the barrels or the Snifits, you'll slow down. It just takes practice, and good reflexes. For a little bit more strategy, go see the Snifits and look at the battle page.
