BACKGROUND: Pandorites are ghosts that have cleverly hidden themselves in treasure chests. They are impossible to tell apart from regular chests until they are opened. This special trick is what earns them their above average intelligence rating.
Pandorites are quite powerful and dangerous, but like real treasure boxes, they usually guard something fairly valuable. A prepared adventurer will almost certainly reap great benefits by tackling these.
Incidentally, while the reference is quite well-known, some of you may not be familiar with the origin of Pandorite's name. Pandora was the first woman ever created (according to Greek legends), and she was enticed by a shiny box. When she opened it out came all sorts of evil things like greed and war and whatnot. Not very nice at all. Similarly, the Pandorite is a box that looks good, but contains evil.
OTHER BACKGROUND INFO:
"Say what you will about ghosts and goblins, they aren't stupid. Pandorite cleverly disguises himself as a Treasure Box. He's utterly invulnerable to Mario's Fire Orb and Mallow's Thunderbolt, but he coughs up lots of HP when bopped by Mario's Jump and Super Jump. When vanquished, Pandorite surrenders a valuable Trueform Pin, which protects its bearer from being changed into a scarecrow. Equip Mario with it before fighitng Belome." - SMRPG Player's Guide.
QUOTES:
"I'm trying to sleep, OK?" - SMRPG
BATTLE PLAN:
Attack Pattern: Pandorite mostly uses magic attacks, and they can be quite powerful. Once in a while the chest pops open, and the ghost inside will peek out and attack. I'm not sure if this can be blocked or not, because it is done from a distance, almost like a special attack.
Basic Strategies:Jump or attack with Mario, attack and heal with Mallow.
Advanced Strategies: You can dig right in to Pandorite with Mario's jump attacks, because he should give you a flower jar, which you can use after the battle to increase your total FP, and fill your actual FP up to Max at the same time!
