Shadow Hydra

SPOILER ALERT !!! SPOILER ALERT !!! Though this doesn't give away game stats for a FASA adventure currently
available (who knows about future ones) the monster described in this text appeared in the ED novel "Prophecy"
and the way to defeat it is presented here. So if you want to keep the fun, maybe don't read this (it's only a
short section in the novel, so it may not be so much)
The monster presented here is the Shadow Hydra (at least that's the name I gave it, I don't know if
they had another name in the book) It was part of the magical defense of a powerful Nethermancer's Grimoire. The
stats are loosely based upon the stats of the Hydra in "Creatures of Barsaive". BTW, thanks to FASA for
such a great product.

CHA 10 Knockdown 20 (15)

# Attacks 5 (3)
Attack 18 (15)
Damage 20 (15)
- Powers:
- Fear(as Dragon Power), Regeneration(as Dragon Power) 20(15)
- Legend Point Award:
- 15,000 (6,000)
- Loot:
- 5,000 - 10,000 sp or equivalent in goods if found in nature (half for small one) no loot if it was just summoned
- ** Vulnerability to light:
- If hit with weapons with a Flameweapon, Light or similar spell on it, physical armor rating is halved, and
the damage caused by this can not be regenerated using the Regeneration ability, but must be recovered with a normal
recovery test
- Cutting a head off:
- Any attack aimed for cutting one of the heads off is rolled against an increased physical defense of
20 (16) and must cause a Wound. Then one of the heads is cut off and the Shadow Hydra has one attack less.
- Note:
- There is also a small version of the SH with only three heads. use the stats in brackets () for this one
- Commentary:
- The Shadow Hydra appears just like a normal Hydra (a dragonlike creature with multiplie, most times
seven heads), except that it has only five heads and is completly black. It fights using it's heads to attack multiple
opponents at once or concentrating them on one target. If three or more heads attack one target, this target is
onsidered harried (ED rules). Shadow Hydras are not reported to live anywher in Barsaive, but are summoned
by powerful Nethermancers as guardians. They are low-intelligent creatures, and if one could escape it's summoners
control and stay in Barsaive, it's likely to have a small hoard of treasure.
