History
With the discovery of the
first Warp Point beyond the orbit of Pluto,
Humanity prepared itself to reach
out and join the rest of the galaxy.
Nations and peoples that
had formerly been rivals joined in a
spirit of adventure and
hope, working together to build the great starships
that would take mankind
into interstellar space.
Ships large and small, from
one-man scouts to the city sized colony ships,
used Gateway 1 and the newly
discovered Gateways 2 and 3 to take the first steps
away from our small world.
To the nearest star systems
and beyond, they went.
To seek out new life, and
new civilizations...
...but they never found
any.
It wasn't long before mankind
went back to his old way.
Alliances forge in the heat
of adventure cooled and became brittle.
Old rivalries rekindled,
new ones heated up.
Man's first interstellar
war was fought between the British colony of New London
and the Chinese colony
of Mao over claims to a rich asteroid field.
Fears that conflicts in
space could lead to devastating wars on Earth itself the
Treaty of Hilo was signed.
Space was divided into regions,
based on national, ethic, religious, and political groups.
A ten light-year non-conflict
zone was established with Earth at the core.
This is the universe of
the Amerika Region.
