The battlefield had two Hs in each Saxon deployment zone. This restristed deployment.
The Saxons advanced with Oswiu on the right and Hereberht on the
left. Facing Oswiu were both allied commands, with a small detachment of
cavalry facing Hereberht. The cavarlry sprinted forward to block Hereberht's
advance.
After an hour (4 bounds) the battle lines collided. The Wendish/Austraians
were getting the better of Oswiu, as the losses were split between
the 2 commands.
After 6 bounds the large saxon command had lost 10 elements to the Wends 2 and Austrasians 4. Then from the Wendish right flank, a Jutish force arrived! As the knights thundered across the field toward the Wends, Oswiu's large command broke. However every element save 4 were locked in mortal combat with the Austrasian and Wendish warbands. Heavy losses to this command were inflicted upon the broken Saxons.
On Hereberht side the overwhelming numbers eventually doomed the small Austrasian cavalry. All were surrounded and killed. The Jutish knights stormed into the Wendish flank. In 15 minutes 6 more Wendish warbands were swept away, along with its general, Walenty Eile. The Jutes then fell upon the Austrasians with great elan. Ataulf's command broke and the Saxons held KlieneBerg and the battle field. A Pyric victory indeed.
