The good, the bad, and the ugly...

Casino Royale
This is the first of the Bond movies, starring not Sean Connery, but instead Barry Nelson. It was an hour long movie special on television, loosely following the Fleming novel of the same name.
Details on the plot
Dr.No
Sean Connery made his debut perfectly in Dr. No, a gritty Bond film that basically created the Bond formula. Dr. No is a reasonable villain, but the only thing that makes the movie considered better than any of the others is the fact that it was original, for being the first.
Details on the plot
From Russia With Love
The deepest and most complex of the Bond movies by far, From Russia With Love is considered one of the greatest Bond movies of all time. Connery is back as Bond, making this in my top list of the Bond films. Rosa Klebb is a great villain, and Romanova is a great Bond girl, as well. This is one of the great ones.
Details on the plot
Goldfinger
This is considered the best Bond movie of all time. It's not my favorite, but this is a great Bond film. Goldfinger is a menace, and a mild-mannered villain, as well, despite attempts to make him look like he's evil. Connery has never been better as Bond, and Bond's girls are both passable, although one of them is a bit flimsy. This is a great Bond film, and you can rent it assured that it's worth it.
Details on the plot
Thunderball
Considered one of the better Bond films, I don't neccessarily agree. Largo is perhaps one of the best villains, and Bond, as usual, is up to par. Bond's two girls are splendid, but the action is seriously flawed. Most of it is underwater at the end, and it gets very confusing....Almost to the point of becoming boring. If you give this one a rent or buy it, beware of the final action sequence....But before that, this is a great film.
Details on the plot
You only Live Twice
Uh-oh....What happened? We were on a roll when Connery decided to make a pitiful performance. Ah, that's not too bad. What's bad is this movie. A plot that is far from original at that point is brought to life poorly, and after this one, Connery's out for the count.
Details on the plot
On Her Majesty's Secret Service
Lazenby's debut and final performance. It's definitely not an action movie. Instead, it's more of a drama, focusing on Bond's marriage and the tragedy that befell his wife. It's a passable film, though not for those people who watch only for action. Lazenby is great at doing the fistfighting sequences, though he's not the greatest at sounding British. The movie would be better without the derned fast-motion camera technique.
Details on the plot
Diamonds are Forever
Connery decided that he was going to go back to playing Bond, although this is kind of lackluster. He did it for the money, despising the character of Bond the whole way. That's really a shame, because this would have been a much better film with another Bond. Wint & Kidd are probably the only homosexual people in any Bond movie...
Live and Let Die
You have almost no choice but to like the theme song to this one....It's probably one of the best theme songs in the history of the movie industry. Roger Moore brings humour, but is a little light on the action throughout all his films. He's a passable Bond, but the movie is a little better. It's the first dealing with Voodoo and intimidation using magic, and it works well.
Details on the plot
The Man With the Golden Gun
I don't care what the critics say about this one, I like it. Bond's girls are the lowest point in this one, both bimbos, but Nick Nack is the most original character since Oddjob. I especially liked the end and beginning sequences in Nick Nack's "playroom". The ultimate battle between titans....Final battles are always my favorite parts of Bond movies.
Details on the plot
The Spy Who Loved me
This one is considered much better than The Man With the Golden Gun, but I didn't particularly care for it. Jaws made his debut, and he lasted for a long while. He's the high point in this one. I guess I'm not much of a 'water Bond movie' fan.
Details on the Plot
Moonraker
The worst theme song in the history of Bond films. One of the most outrageous Bond movies. Jaws is pitiful as a lover, and Bond is pitiful as an astronaut. Hugo Drax is too mild-mannered to be considered a real insane villain, and the only strong point in this movie is Holly Goodhead, Bond's girl. This one was just too comcial for Bond.
Details on the plot
For Your Eyes Only
Another flat theme song, but a great movie. Moore's highest point in the series, in my humble opinion. Melina Havelock is a great and refreshingly different Bond girl, and Columbo is a great ally. The problem isn't with the plot, which is more realistic than Moonraker's, the problem is with the pathetic villain, Kristatos, who is too mild-mannered to be evil. A great film anyway....Go see this one.
Details on the plot
Octopussy
The second most complex of all the Bond films, dealing with the bombing of a US air base. It's kind of unclear as to what's going on, and Kamal Khan gets too little time for you to think he's evil, but Moore plays Bond extremely well and Vijay is another great ally. Perhaps he's more interesting than Octopussy herself, a boring woman who is in control of her little empire. This is a very interesting Bond film.
Details on the plot
A View to a Kill
UCK! Simply, the worst Bond film ever made. Roger Moore is too old for the part, and Stacey Sutton's character is little more than a bimbo with no brain, getting captured by a more interesting villain, Max Zorin. Zorin is the best villain since Goldfinger at this point. The problem with this is that you end up caring more about him and his counterpart, MayDay, than you do about Bond and his bimbo. Just skip this one.
Details on the plot
The Living Daylights
Alright! Don't throw Bond out the door yet-here's my favorite. Timothy Dalton brings Fleming's Bond to life brilliantly, and his potrayal of Bond is the most accurate so far. Kara Milovy is a great represenation of what a Bond girl should be in her case. Pushkin is an intricate character, who is either a friend or foe, and Necros is an evil henchman. Once again, we have the problem of the villain being a mild-mannered, boring person. Whittaker is too funny to be a villain. Still, this is one of the best Bond movies out there, and it's definitely worth seeing.
Details on the plot
Licence to Kill
Is this a Bond film? Or is this a Beverly Hills Cop episode filmed on location? This one gets down and dirty into drugs and illegal selling of crack and stuff, far deeper than in Live and Let Die. I felt that it needed something else to keep it going. It was just flat boring at times. The two girls are both incredibly dull, and Dalton was too mean for you to care about him. Sanchez is the only refreshing element of this film, making this one kind of the opposite of The Living Daylights. Sanchez is vile, but retains a sense of humour and honor. This is just way too gritty to be a true Bond film.
Details on the plot
Goldeneye
Great film, especially after that last disaster. Pierce Brosnan is Bond. If he keeps acting this well, he'll become even better liked than Connery. Trevelyan is a perfect villain, cruel and evil, yet cunning and physically fit. Natalya is almost as good as Kara Milovy of The Living Daylights. Xenia is a refreshingly good villainess, and it all comes together for a brilliant final confrontation on the Cradle. Great film.
Details on the plot
Tommorrow Never Dies
A decent theme song sets this movie's stage. Definitely the most high-tech Bond movie yet, this one deals with the media's power over people. Brosnan is once again flawless, and Elliot Carver is a remarkable villain, if not a little cool under pressure. Wai Lin is another tomboy-ish girl type, while Paris Carver is the seductress. It's too bad that she doesn't get more time in the film. Stamper looks like a member of Green Day and fits the 'ug' type of henchman. This one is a very different kind of Bond film, but it's all good.
Details on the plot
The World is Not Enough
In this complicated movie, Bond begins with a bang, attempting to find out who triggered a bomb inside Mi6. here are a lot of 'firsts' for Bond in this movie. In some cases, he actually shoots some of the girls he holds at gunpoint and fights like Bond should. This one's a different kind of Bond film, but it's definitely worth seeing.

DETAILS:
WHAT? Bond was American in this version. That's just downright sacrilegious....Bond is sent to bankrupt SMERSH operative Le Cheef. Cheef has come to the casino because he stole :-O funds from SMERSH and invested it in a pimping business that went sour. So before SMERSH goes over and kicks his arse out of life itself, Cheef is determined to win back enough money to cover what he stole. Bond is sent to outgamble him. A modestly entertaining piece, but the book is better.

DETAILS:
Bond is sent to investigate the death of an extremely important guy on the remote island of Jamaica. What he uncovers is a plot by an insane Dr. No to screw up the US space shuttles with some radioactive signals and devices. Obviously, Dr. No has to be stopped. The Bond girl is much weaker than most of the others, but sets a nice standard. The best part of this movie, though, is the beginning, when three so-called 'blind' beggars blow away a whole bunch of people. Evil, but cool.
Back
DETAILS:
The evil SPECTRE organization has created a brilliant plan that will allow it to obtain a LEKTOR decoder for themselves-AND get their revenge on James Bond for the death of Dr. No! The setup is brilliant-Rosa Klebb, a Russian agent defector to SPECTRE, has set up one of her best agents to seduce Bond and 'do whatever he says'. M is given a message, then, by this woman, named 'Titiana Romanova' to meet with Bond and discuss a plan to steal the LEKTOR decoder. This movie is a huge adventure, spawning dozens of exotic locations. It has become my second favorite.

DETAILS:
Bond is investigating a man named Mr. Auric Goldfinger. He meets the man first at a beach, where he is caught cheating at cards, and Bond also meets Jill Masterson there. This is bad news for both of them, though, once Jill is painted gold by Oddjob, Goldfinger's seemingly impenetrable Korean mute servant. Bond is captured by Goldfinger and kept in a prison, where Bond learns about 'Operation Grand Slam', an operation that will ruin the national gold supply and increase the value of Goldfinger's own gold by 10%. The plan is:
*Pussy Galore's flying circus will drop canisters of gas on the guards at Fort Knox
*Goldfinger's men will enter the facility and place a radioactive bomb inside
Obviously, Goldfinger has to be stopped by Bond. In the end, Goldfinger's plan is foiled, but he gets away. Bond is then captured by Goldfinger one more time, and sucked out the window of his own plane.

DETAILS:
While Bond is tracking down an agent of SPECTRE, he discovers a plot by Emilio Largo to steal a nuclear device and threaten WWIII with it. Obviously, he has to be stopped. Bond decides to spend some time with Largo's girlfriend to find some answers. Before long, he's become Largo's biggest enemy and is fleeing from Largo's goons. Eventually, Bond finds help from Domino in stopping Largo's evil plans. It's a decent Bond film.

DETAILS:
Um.....The most absurd plot in the business. Both the Americans and the Russians are competing in the 'space race'. Well, both of their spacecraft are stolen by SPECTRE in a hilarious display of SPECTRE's spacecraft eating the others. Both the Americans and the Soviets are certain that each other did the swallowing, and so they begin to get kinda upset about the whole thing. Bond is assigned to figure out who took the American thing. The SPECTRE craft landed in Japan. After a whole bunch of crap (and some good action scenes, too) Bond has to learn to become Japanese. This means that he has to take lessons in Karate and get married :-O But never fear, he doesn't get too ugly of a girl, despite talk of her being a pig. After all that rigamorole, Bond finally infiltrates the SPECTRE hideout where we get a first and disappointing unmasking of Ernst Stavro Blofeld. Hmmmm. This one could've been better.
Back
DETAILS:
Bond is relieved of the task of tracking down Blofeld, and is given 2 weeks leave. During this two-week period, Bond gets in contact with a crime leader with the last name of Draco to find Blofeld. Draco reveals Blofeld is a count, and will tell nothing else unless Bond courts his daughter, Tracy. Bond decides to attempt a relationship with Tracy, even though it's a bumpy one at first. Eventually, Bond impersonates a guest Blofeld was expecting and learns of Blofeld's evil plans to unleash a virus that will kill thousands into the world. Bond, of course, has got to stop him. He ends up escaping with Tracy and proposing to her. When she is kidnapped right under his nose, Bond immediately calls her father Draco and sets up a rescue mission. Blofeld escapes, but the facility is destroyed. Bond marries Tracy a few days later, but, unfortunately, Tracy is shot by Irma Bunt and Blofeld in a drive-by. This is the only 'sad' Bond ending as far as I know.

DETAILS:
Bond is sent to investigate when three fellow agents are killed. He ends up in New Orleans, investigating a scheme by 'Mr. Big' to become the sole producer of heroin in the world. Bond is captured by Big numerous times. Along the way, he meets Rosie Carver, a woman who seems initially harmless. Later on, though, Bond is warned by Solitaire, a woman who Bond meets while captured, that she is very dangerous. Solitaire is Mr Big's personal fortune-teller, who predicts the future. Bond rescues Solitaire from the island that Kananga owns, and finds out only a short time later that Mr. Big and Kananga are the same person. Solitaire and Bond team up against Kananga and eventually stop his evil reign. This is definitely one of the most interesting Bond films, and is refreshingly different.
DETAILS:
The Man With the Golden Gun has a pretty strange plot. It all begins when Bond is assigned to track down the 'solex agitator', a gizmo that converts the sun's rays into energy. Then he gets a golden bullet with '007' printed on it sent to him in the mail. He decides to investigate. Bond meets with the maker of the bullet and ends up meeting up with Francesco Scaramanga's 'assistant' of sorts, Andrea Anders, who actually sent the bullet to Bond. Before she is shot by Scaramanga's midget assistant, Tattoo (oops...Sorry....I meant Nick Nack), she tells Bond a few things about Scaramanga. Eventually, Mary Goodnight, Bond's 'girl' in this movie, gets kidnapped by Scaramanga and taken to his island. Bond goes to rescue her and is challenged by Scaramanga to a 'duel between titans' which, of course, Bond wins. Very strange, like I said. A complete gutter of information poorly brought together, but a reasonably good film.

DETAILS:
Bond is teamed up with Russian agent Triple-X to work together to figure out what happened to two nuclear missiles. On the way, however, all of their contacts keep getting killed by Jaws. Jaws, by the way, is the coolest character in the movie. Stromburg is a Drax-like villain who wants all life to be under the sea, and is only remarkable for being one of the few villains that Bond actually shot in the crotch. How amusing. But back to the point, initially Bond and Triple-X don't work well together. And this is heightened since Bond killed her boyfriend on his last mission.....So this one is kind of strange. There are a few good action scenes, but I couldn't help feeling like I'd been here before.

DETAILS:
The space shuttle named 'Moonraker' has been hijacked. Bond is assigned to find it and find out who took it and what they plan to use it for. He tracks the shuttle down to a billionaire named Hugo Drax. After careful investigating, Bond ends up discovering that Drax's plot is Hitler-esque. He wants to wipe out the entire planet and start a perfect civilization. Just about every other detail is unremarkable in this movie. Jaws gets a girlfriend, which is pitiful, really, and as usual, one of Bond's girls gets killed.

DETAILS:
Bond is assigned to find the ATAC system, a computer that can target and track submarines, before the Russians or anybody else get to it. A scientist working on the actual system is killed by a terrorist, giving Bond a lead. Along the way, though, he encounters Melina Havelock, the daughter of the dead scientist, who becomes obsessed with avenging her parents' death. Bond meets her unexpectantly at a swimming 'party' where money is being exchanged. Bond helps her escape, and before long, they both split up because of her obsession with killing her parents' assassin. Bond carries on, setting up a meeting with Aris Kristatos, who has connections to the man Bond saw at the exchange. He points in the direction of Columbo, his competition. Bond goes after Columbo, but it turns out that Kristatos is the real enemy, going to sell the ATAC to General Gogol and the Russians. Columbo stops Kristatos at the last second, saving millions of lives. Great film, probably the best of Roger Moore's films.

DETAILS:
This one I had to struggle to figure out. Bond is assigned to find out why a fake egg is in dead agent 009's hands. The trail leads to a crazed Russian general, Orlov, who wants Russia to dominate England. To do it, he plans on placing a bomb on an American air base in west Germany. Kamal Khan, a prince, is a hired hand to help Orlov deliver the bomb. Octopussy is serving as a cover for Khan's operation. She runs a small island that teaches women discipline through a jewel smuggling act. Khan and Orlov together switch several priceless jewels with fakes with plans to exchange the jewels for her service. After Orlov is shot, though, Khan decides to betray Octopussy and steals the jewelry himself, leaving Octopussy with the same bomb-hidden in one of her circuses, though. Overall, this is a great film, even with it's Goldfinger similarities. I think that Moore's best performance was in this one.

Oh, if you insist. Bond is assigned to find a microchip that's being investigated. He ends up finding Max Zorin, who is cheating at the KENTUCKY Derby. Bond is identified by Zorin and assumed dead. Later on, Bond meets Stacey Sutton, a whiny Bond girl, and ends up having to break into Zorin Industries to find out what's going on. He goes with Stacey into a mine and finds out that Zorin is going to flood Silicon Valley so that he can corner the microchip market. If you're wondering why I'm dragging on, go see this movie. Better yet, DON'T.

DETAILS:
The Living Daylights is a different kind of Bond film, one that you can really tell is from the '80s. At the beginning of the film, Bond is sent on an training trip. A fellow agent is killed, but Bond doesn't know why. The next day or so, he is sent to help Georgi Koskov, a Russian KGB agent, defect to Europe. Bond encounters a female sniper who he spares due to her lack of skill in the matter. Koskov reveals after Bond is successful that Pushkin, the KGB General, is insane, and is definitely planning on killing all the agents on a certain list involved with espionage. Then, right under MI6's nose, Georgi is snatched by the KGB.
Or so they all think.
Bond goes after Pushkin, and finds Kara Milovy, the KGB 'sniper' he saw earlier. He finds out a short while later that she is Koskov's girlfriend, and Bond traces her cello to an arms merchant named Brad Whittaker. Whittaker has built himself a war monument with high-tech weaponry purchased from the Americans, but has refused to pay. After Bond and Kara are captured by Koskov, Bond realizes that Koskov set Kara up to be a sniper to kill her and stop her from learning about his matters. Brad is planning to sell diamonds to Afghanistanis for opium, which he will sell and make millions off of. He will pay the debt from that, and will supply the Russians with the high-tech weapons. There is very little urgency in the plot, but it is extremely entertaining.

Bond helps long-time friend Felix Leiter capture drug lord Franz Sanchez just in time for his wedding day, but is shocked when Sanchez escapes and kills Felix's bride the same night. Felix is sent to be eaten by sharks, and Bond is furious. On a personal vendetta, Bond runs off to track down Sanchez and crack down on his operations. He scans a list of informants and finally finds Carey Lowell, the last living informant for the police about Sanchez. Bond meets her in a bar, where she is most likely about to be killed. The two team up and decide to go after Sanchez alone to attempt his life. Bond joins Sanchez's evil operations in hopes of killing Sanchez. However, everybody in England wants Bond dead, too, before he stops their operations. Eventually Bond gets his man, and it makes you wonder why you paid to see this film. It's average.

Bond is sent to find out what happened to the satellite code named 'GoldenEye' which was launched by the Russians. MI6 knows that there are two of the weapons, each with the power to destroy everything electronic within a city. Natalya Simonova, a programmer working for the guidance systems in Severnaya, where the GoldenEye control is stationed, is the only survivor of the first GoldenEye blast that destroys the building. The Janus crime organization seems to have stolen the GoldenEye key for the other satellite. To get in and find out who Janus really is, Bond goes through Janus's crime competition, Valentin Zukovsky. Bond finds out that Janus is really his old partner, Alec Trevelyan, who is hoping to avenge his parents' death at the hands of the British by destroying the city of London. Obviously, Alec has to be stopped. Before Bond can do anything, though, his is shot and placed with Natalya in a helicopter that's about to be destroyed. Bond narrowly escapes and works with Natalya to get into Cuba, where Alec's base is. The final battle takes place between Bond and Alec ontop of a huge antenna cradle. This is a great film that introduces technology as a major event.

Bond is sent to recover a stolen device held by a Russian terrorist. He barely escapes the place before it is destroyed by his own people, who forgot that nuclear weapons were on the plane. Of course, Bond saves the day by flying away in the plane. From there, Bond is sent to find out what happened to a Briish ship that was destroyed in what appeared to be international waters. It looks like the Chinese shot down the ship. But the newspaper Tomorrow is telling all the information before MI6 can figure it out! Suspicious, M sends Bond to a party to meet Elliot Carver, the man in charge of the newspaper, which is extremely powerful media. It's satellites are positioned all around the globe. It turns out the Elliot has been using the press to manipulate people into thinking that Britain and China are both at war! Elliot's own ship destroyed the British ship. His motive? Good ratings and broadcasting rights in China, which he had not had the right to do previously. Obviously, he has to be stopped before WWIII breaks lose. Bond teams up with Chinese agent Wai Lin in order to stop the madman. After the death of Bond's old girlfriend and Elliot's wife Paris, Bond is bent on stopping Elliot for sure. Eventually, the movie ends up right where it started-the ships. This is most definitely one of the best Bond movies there is. Very sophisticated and high-tech. It's a blast.

DETAILS:
A known terrorist known as 'Renard' seeks revenge, it seems, on Mi6, killing the father of known prince's daughter Elektra King at Mi6, after Bond triggered the bomb. Renard is quite possibly one of the best Bond villains, with the unique features of not being able to feel pain because of a bullet lodged into his head. He'll eventually die from it, so he is afraid of nothing, truly. Bond is sent scrambling to protect Elektra King from Renard. Along the trail, he discovers Renard's nuclear missile plans and also discovers the next Bond girl, nuclear physicist Christmas Jones, but fails temporarily in judgement and instead of protecting M from harm, he watches as King attacks Mi6 and kidnaps M! Whoa, something new and different.....The chase is on with help from VALENTIN (ugh) who thankfully gets shot. A lot of this movie relies on the unexpected plot twists, so I will try not to ruin it too awful much. Go see this one so I won't have to!
