Tedium

There are two types of tedium connected with ineffective language learning methods:

(1) The classroom tasks associated with being given explicit grammar rules and being expected to memorize them and apply them to example sentences. Also being expected to commit to memory grammatical paradigms such as verb conjugations and foreign language vocabulary lists with their native language equivalents.

(2) Talking with a native speaker, using a method wherein everything you say must be translated and reconstructed in your mind before you speak it, and everything the foreigner says must be deconstructed into your native language before you can begin to understand it.
