Nobuyuki Masaki is Tenchi's father and Yousho's son-in-law. Not much is known about who his parents are, though Tenchi's greataunt who owns the bath house in OAV#4 and Tenchi's aunt who asks Tenchi to take care of a baby in OAV#8 are both from Nobuyuki's side of the family.
Not much is revealed about Nobuyuki's past in the OAV series. It is presumed that he has a job since it seems he isn't present at the house all the time (besides they have to pay the bills somehow). Nobuyuki married Achika a while back, and they had a child that they named Tenchi. However, Tenchi's mother died when Tenchi was still a little boy, and Nobuyuki ended up taking care of Tenchi on his own. He seems to have done a good job, for Tenchi is very well-mannered and a hard worker.
Nobuyuki is somewhat of a dirty old man at times. For instance, when the family went to the bath house in OAV#4, Nobuyuki tried to convince Tenchi to take a peek at the women's bath. In Nobuyuki's own words, "It would be rude not to peek". It's surprising that Tenchi did not pick up his father's weaker side. Nobuyuki seems to really enjoy the fact that there are so many young women living with him and Tenchi, and at times he does try to get Tenchi to choose one of the girls. For the most part, however, he behaves himself around the girls. However, this is probably in part to the fact that the girls are capable of causing great bodily harm. All in all, Nobuyuki is a good father to Tenchi despite his faults, and everyone else in the family does not have any problems with Nobuyuki.
