Kick Things Up a Notch!

The rules for a most heinous drinking game...

Oh sure, you've probably seen plenty of drinking games for TV shows: Star Trek, Babylon 5, and tons more. This is an idea I've had brewing for a while now, so finally I've taken a shot at writing down all the rules I've got so far. All you need is a TV (preferably with cable so you can watch The Essence of Emeril or Emeril Live on the TV Food Network), some friends (who wants to drink alone? You'd always win...) and the beverage of your choice. Naturally, something with alcoholic content makes the game a bit more fun, but it's your call.

I must stress, of course, that drinking and driving do not mix. Underage drinking is also a no-no. So if you actually go ahead and play this game, be sure to do it in a place where you can get trashed and not hurt yourself or anyone else. And be of the legal age when you do it, too. For heavens sake, be responsible for yourself!

The Essence of Emeril

Take a sip when Emeril:

...says "BAM!"
...uses his pepper mill.
...says "Can you see that?"
...says "what we're gonna do" or "what you wanna do"
...kicks things up a notch.
...says "Right here on the Essence!"

Take a drink when Emeril:

...says "Happy happy!"
...kicks things up to notches unknown to mankind, or something similar.
...says "I love ____", be it garlic, blackberries, whatever.
...does the "bouncing thing", where he gets a bit excited at the beginning or end of a segment, usually when he announces what he'll be doing next.
...mentions his parents, either Hilda or "Mr. John".
...cries out "Whooooooo man!" Even just the "Whooooooo" will suffice.
...messes up something he should easily be able to do, like fitting the lid on a food processor.
...talks to the production crew on the air.

Finish off your glass/bottle/can when Emeril:

...adds "a little salt" to a dish, when it looks like he's dumping in a ton.
...announces that PORK FAT RULES!
...jokes about adding alcohol to a dish.

Extra Rules for Emeril Live!

Take a sip when Emeril:

...admonishes an audience member to "get your own show!"
...cracks on whar other late night shows are doing.
...says "Yeah, yeah..." in reaction to being given a time cue offscreen.
...makes mention of "rocket science" or "building rockets".

Take a drink when Emeril:

...goes to the fridge for ingredients.
...mentions the Partridge Family bus.
...makes use of the "Bam Bowl".
...has cheesy non-musical entertainment on the show (be it dancers or that fake old lady).
...talks to the musical guest.
...introduces members of his production crew.

Finish off your glass/bottle/can when Emeril:

...uses copious amounts of powdered sugar--enough to leave a lingering cloud.
...uses beer in a recipe and actually drinks some of it.

I suppose it goes without saying that this drinking game is in no way associated, endorsed, etc. by Emeril Lagasse or the TV Food Network. I just made it up for a bit of fun.
