W...what...? His request startled her so much that the gun nearly slipped from her hands. He...he's asking me to kill him...? She raised her weapon slowly, trying to hide how much her arms were trembling.
"You saw what I did, Relena," he said. "Now kill me."
She bit her lower lip, now unable to hide her shaking. Heero...please...don't do this...I can't do it this way... She couldn't kill him...not if he wanted her to! She glanced at Duo again, unable to tell if he was dead or alive. Wait...was he...breathing? If he was alive...it didn't change things. "Heero..." she started to say. "Heero, what's gotten into you...?"
Her question seemed to shock him. When he answered her, his voice was surprisingly unsteady. "Just kill me," he told her. Begged her.
"..." She approached him, gun still raised. He stared at her, not blinking. Ready for his fate. God...he hates so much...he hates himself...this is sick. She could feel tears spilling down her face, but she couldn't wipe them away. She didn't want to. Heero...maybe he was a vampire...maybe he was just crazy...she didn't know...she didn't want to know...why was this happening? Why? There was only one thing she could do...
Relena let the gun fall to the floor. Then she drew Heero into her arms, stroking his hair gently. "You...don't deserve to die..." she managed to choke out before completely dissolving into tears.
He stiffened for a second, then relaxed against her. There were tears on his face as well, but she couldn't see them. She didn't need to. He closed his eyes.
I guess it really is over...
