Dragon Lord; 1982 HK

Third feature in Jackie's countryside trilogy. Other two parts in serie were Fearless Hyena and Young Master. Jackie made Dragon Lord after his first visit in US. Just like in previous films in serie Jackie is once again a little simple-minded and lazy countryboy who wants to have some fun - gambling and flirting - rather than study or work. But then he and his friend Cowboy get involved with some nasty men who steal some Chinese rtreasues and smuggle them out of the country. Then Jackie (character named Dragon) and Cowboy stop the evil men and sve the National treasures.

Jackie was moving to more acrobatic style of film fighting replacing than very serious traditional Shaolin styles. Jackie was nominated for Best Action Desing by the 1992 Hong Kong Film awards. These Awards were given first time in 1981. But commercially it was a failure in Hong Kong. Original title was Young Master in Love.

Jackie Chan I still think it is a good film. Now, a lot of people do different kinds of Chinese films, but at that time I was the first one to try to make a new kind of action picture. I got rid of the kung fu and tried to put in sports (football, soccer), but I found that the audience didn't want that.
Jackie still holds the record for the most takes for one scene with the bun pyramid scene. The actual number of shots has been said being 1300 but rumors go between 190 and 2900. This scene is when hundred martial artists are climbing over each others when they try to reach the price the get it to home base.
