Drunken WebMaster: Jackie Chan Biography  Real name: Chen Gang Lung Cantonese: Sing Lung Pseudonyms: Chan Yan Lung Jackie Lung Chen Lung Kung Fu superstar, born 7th April 1954 in Hong Kong Only son of a cook and a cleaning lady. Studied Peking Opera at Chinese Opera Research Institute under Yu Jim Yuen alongside Samo Hung and Yuen Biao, both of whom became life-long friends.Was part of 'Seven Little Fortures' -theathre group with Samo Hung. Was interested in cinema from the beginnig. Started as an actor, and 1973 began as Martial Arts Director (The Heroine). Jackie Chan supposed to be new Bruce Lee, but he never made it, eventhough he casted movies like New Fists of Fury. Director Lo Wei Trained him to make him real kung-fu star in the middle of 70's, but Chan did not get his breakthrough before 1979, when Chan was starred in Snake In The Eagle's Shadow, directed by Yuen Woo-ping. He made several movies in USA in 80's, but without succee. But his Hong Kong films like Project A and Police Story -series made him a big international film star. Now he has got some succee in USA as well with his Rumble In The Bronx. He makes his own stunts (even the dangerous ones) and he has his own stunt men group (in Cantosese: Sing Kar Ban) , which makes all stunt coreography in J Chan movies.. To the top |
