What a proud day for me.  I have been looking for the Scary Spice doll for many weeks now, and I finally found it at Wal-Mart with the assistance of Cat.  The Spice Dolls were hidden among some Barbie products.  I guess someone was trying to prevent others from buying them.  I was a little hesitant to purchase a doll at first, but I got caught up in Spice-Fever and went right ahead with it.  And BOY am I glad I did!

When I first bought it I had the intention of keeping it sealed and locked away in a vault so that it could increase in value.  But once I looked at all the Spicy accessories for Scary, there was just no way I could resist.  I'll have to buy all the Spice Dolls later and leave them unopened.  It will be a good investment for my future.  But this time, just this once, I decided to have some fun.

Here you can see pictures of me looking like a 9 year old girl on Christmas morning, opening up my presents.  I was so excited, I couldn't help but smile.  You can see from my wide eyes that all my wildest Spice-Fantasies were being fulfilled, and how!  Lucky for me, Cat was here to capture the moment on film.

Finally, I freed Scary from her cardboard prison, and let her get her first glimpses of the outside world.  Look how happy she is here!  There was still much to be done though.  There were lots of little plastic things all over her that needed to be cut off.  Strangest of all were the two plastic strings coming out of her head.  Eventually, I removed it all, and she was ready to PARTY!

First of all, let me say that this girl knows how to dress!  Her clothes are just like they are in real life.  Fuzzy leopard skin clothing is what Scary Spice is all about.  She definately looks the part.  The nice two-piece outfit shows off the zany tattoo located on her midriff.  The detachable microphone gives you the option of acting out a concert situation, or just a late night jam with the Girls.

Now, I must say that the facial features are not entirely accurate.  Scary herself originally wanted her doll to have the tongue sticking out, showing off her pierced tongue.  I guess the company big wigs couldn't handle it, though.  Maybe in the next generation of dolls, Scary will get her wish.  Where the facial features lack, the hair compensates.  It is multicolored and totally kickin', just like the real thing!

A nice little detail is this golden snake arm bracelet.  It's just like Scary's real bracelet.  You can also see the shoulder joint of the arm here, which allows the active doll user to swing the arms up and down, in a flapping motion.  The joint also allows for full 360 degree rotation, so she can do much more than just flap.

Scary decided it was time to "break it down" for this pose.  Here you see her holding her boombox proudly in her right hand, while singing with the microphone in her left hand.  Maybe she's singing along to one of the Spice Girls' smash hit songs, like "Mama".  The boombox even has an opening CD door, with a little spice girls CD inside.  Sorry kids, you can't play this CD in your stereo.

To top it all off, she comes with her own platform boots.  These are quality boots, but unfortunately she can't stand upright while wearing them.  In fact, the doll is incapable of standing on it's own in any way.  That would have to be my one complaint about this doll.  The knees aren't bendable at all, but check out those ragin' bell-bottoms!  She's so outrageous!

I think this doll should also talk.  Maybe Scary could pass on great messages to the children that admire her.  Here are just a few sound samples I thought would be appropriate for the next Scary doll if they decide to make it talk.  If you're a toy company owner, and want to use these sounds, it's ok with me.  I won't even ask for royalties because I'm in it for the kids.
