The Birth

Sigma Psi Zeta began in the fall of 1993 at the University at Albany, State University of New York. The sorority was recognized on the University at Albany campus on March 23, 1994. Sigma Psi Zeta was the first multi-cultural Asian-interest Greek Letter organization out of a total of 46 existing fraternities and sororities on the university's campus. We have become the first existing East coast based Asian Interest Sorority.The women who embodied the strength to dedicate themselves to the founding of our sisterhood are:

Gina Han, Sally Hsieh, Jean Kim, Yan-Chieh Liu, Winnie Liu, Sung-Yon Noh,
Jenny Kim, Sandra Lam, Michelle Macaraig, and Loan Trang
.

Our founding mothers aimed to establish an orgainzation emcompassing the strength of today's Asian-American Woman and her potential for making an impact on the world around her. Since then, the sisterhood has grown to include additional chapters with sisters who have pledged to uphold the beliefs of the sorority.

The Beta Chapter was founded on January 4 1995 under the leadership of the founders:
Jeanne Chau, Angela Chen, Kathy Kuo, Jenny Lee, Judy Lee, Sophia Lee, Elaine Leung, Elizabeth Liu.

The Gamma Chapter was founded on January 18, 1997 under the leadership of the founders:
Debbie Hum, Michelle Kang, Shirley Leung, Eva Li.

The Buffalo Charter was founded on October 3, 1998 under the leadership of the founders:
Jully Hong, Nina Lee, Edelta Miles, Jenny Wong.

The Oneonta Charter was founded on October 3, 1998 under the leadership of the founders:
Janet Yuen, Rebekah Yuen.

The Pace Charter was founded on November 7, 1998 under the leadership of the founders:
Tressa Chan, Ruolan Su, Lisa Wong.



The Creed of Sigma Psi Zeta is the fundamental belief that binds the sisters together. Its manifest meaning signifies the underlying purpose of founding Sigma Psi Zeta Sorority.

Vision
Our vision is to become a national organization uniting the sisters to follow the code of loyalty, allegiance, and dedication.

Mission
Our mission is to promote unity among women and the awareness of the Asian and Asian- American culture and heritage.

Goal
Our goal is to best demonstrate sisterhood and allegiance by merging all efforts and interests to provide an invaluable experience for the sisters and services to the local communities and the community at large.
