" Atheism "

" I CAN SEE THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE CAME OUT WITH A LOT OF OPINIONS ABOUT ATHEISM.WELL WE MUST UNDERSTAND ONE THING,THIS OPINIONS ARE WHAT WE THINK ONLY AND IT MIGHT NOT BE TRUE.I'M NOT CONDEMNING THOSE WHO SUPPORT ATHEISM NEITHER DO I STAND WITH THOSE WHO BELIEVE THAT THERES GOD JUST BECAUSE THEIR PARENTS TOLD THEM THER'S ONE OR JUST BECAUSE MANY PEOPLE BELIEVE IN ONE. THERES NO USE TO JUST BELIEVE IN GOD AND COMMITING ALL KIND OF SINS .AN ATHEIST WHO LIVES BY VIRTUE IS ANYTIME BETTER IN THIS CASE.

I BELIEVE THAT GOD RESIDES IN EVERYONES HEART . GOD RATHER STAY IN THE HEART OF AN ATHEIST WHO'S KIND HEARTED RATHER THEN A SElFISH AND GREEDY BELIEVER. WHAT I WOULD SUGGEST IS,THOSE WHO BELIEVE IN GOD DONT JUST STAY THERE AND ANNOUNCE THAT I BELIEVE IN GOD,GO AHEAD AND FIND OUT MORE.

FOR THOSE WHO DON'T BELIEVE IN HIS EXISTENCE DONT KEEP YOUR VIEWS CLOSED,AS RAJ SAID WE HAVE TO BE BROAD MINDED AND KEEP OUR IDEAS OPEN.WHO KNOWS SOME FELLOW ATHEISTS MIGHT CHANGE THEIR VIEWS. I ADMIRE RAJ WHEN HE SAID THAT BELIEVING IN ONESELF IS MORE IMPORTANT,BECAUSE THEY ARE THE EXACT WORDS OF ONE OF THE FOREMOST DEVOTEE OF GOD, SWAMI VIVEKANANDA,"THE OLD SAYING IS THAT AN ATHEIST IS ONE WHO DON'T BELIEVE IN GOD BUT I (SWAMI VIVEKANANDA) SAY THAT AN ATHEIST IS WHO DOESN'T BELIEVE IN HIMSELF."

ONLY THOSE WHO REALLY BELIEVE I THEMSELVES CAN KNOW GOD. TRUST ME THOSE WITHOUT SELF CONFIDENCE AND DETERMINATION CAN NEVER KNOW GOD ! FOR THOSE WHO DON'T BELIEVE IN GOD ,I'LL LIKE TO GIVE SOME FOOD FOR THOUGHT. ALBERT EINSTEIN THE EMBODIMENT OF LOGIC AND CRITICAL THINKING AND A SCIENTIST WHO THOUGHT CENTURIES AHEAD OF HIS TIME,SAID OF QUANTUM PHYSICS,"WHEN WE GO FURTHER IN THIS FIELD WE'LL COME TO STAGE WHERE HUMAN MIND CANNOT CONCIEVE ANY MORE,THAT'S WHERE THE LINK BETWEEN HUMAN COMPREHENSION AND GOD LIES." HE ALSO PROCLAIMED THAT THE LINK BETWEEN RELIGION AND PHYSICS IS QUANTUM PHYSICS.

I GIVEN THE CHANCE I'LL GO ON GIVING MY VIEWS, BUT THERS LIMITED SPACE SO I GOT TO STOP HERE. YOU'RE FREE TO MAIL ME REGARDING THIS MATTER. "

" People all around the world have different sorts of beliefs, of which atheism is one too. This may appear oxymoronic - a belief in non-belief.

I guess it is not a wrong or a right in itself. However I hope that those who do not believe in God have something or the other to believe in anyway. It would buffer some of the burden we already load ourselves with it would help to "know" that Someone is there above us and knows what we are doing and is ready to catch us should we fall, or teach us if we do....

I do not condemn atheism I admire people who can remain cheerful and happy without becoming disillusioned with life, despite believing there is no god, and that things run by science and logic alone, or whatever else. In the end, we live by our rules, right? "

Ashok

" what you are saying, then, ashok, is that god is not intergral to life, that this creation called god is really quite irrelevant. If you accept that we all live by our rules, and that each of us has their own set of beliefs, be it god or anything else..then, logically, god is not integral, even if it is integral in yours. That is, objectively speaking, god is irrelevant.

I don't think believing in non-belief is oxymoronic. It is just another belief. Just as non-decision making is a form of decision making. However, i would like to dispel the misconception that atheists are cheerful and happy, as ashok would have it. The true atheist, the essential existentialist realises that the freedom he has taken for himself is not liberatory, but a burden. Freedom can never be something that is care-free. Freedom is always a responsibility, an endless questioning of every action every thought. With freedom comes a certain responsibility, a responsibility which is not required of a believer in a god or a superhuman force. "

" The topic has lots of room to move about. I think if we have some form of preset parameters, it will really put some jazz into the forum..no? I'd just like to make a general comment. In my opinion, it's no easy task to prove that there's no God and similarly difficult to prove the existence of a divine being. It's my belief that atheists have their own reasons for not believing. Since I'm not an atheist, i'd like to invite comments from atheists if possible. And for Ashok's comment, yes, i do think the multitude of those atheists have something or other to believe in..i believe many are into the worshipping of money? "

" hey Visu...in my opinion, ~ God is an imaginary source of confidence, present mainly in the hearts of people without self-confidence. ~ I belief in myself rather than in God. Why not belief in someone who exists rather than someone supernatural ? Why do people turn to God ... b'coz of fear, to seek help, to dispell sorrows and to ask for boons....what else ?

All these are possible even if one beliefs in oneself...it all depends on how broad minded and calm one can be whenever possible.

People talk of God creating MAN...but why not think otherwise ?...MAN created God .

Ancient human beings "created" God to control the mankind and to teach what they believed in by inflicting fear within fellow human beings. Then different groups wanted people to follow different ideologies and thus we have different Gods...so it boils down to the fact that you are actually believing in someone who lived thousand years back..so why not believe in someone who exists now and who knows you best...BELIEF IN YOURSELF ! :) "

Raj

" In my opinion, Raj is right and so are some of the others. You cannot say whether god exists or not. If you are an atheists, you probably belief in your self, just like raj. However if you belief in a god, its for your good too.. The bhagavad gita teaches us that whatever actions we carry out should be in the name of the god without any expectations of the returns or rewards of our actions. To me, beleif in god is a very pshychological thing, it gives you a very positive attitude in life. You know that no matter what you do, even when u are in the wrong.. there is a god and beleiving in him makes you feel ure always in the right ...

In the case of atheists, you got to be sure of yourself in anything you do. You got to be very confident of yourself to say that you rule your life and whatever you do ure going to hold yourself responsible even if it doesnt turn out the way it is supposed to...that is if you end up in the wrong...you must be able to handle it....its more like you have no external support(that is no god). Postivity has to come from within , for an athiest. However i would not agree with niven in the sense that, it doesnt mean that if you hold the responsibility of always making sure your in the right, you cannot be cheerful and happy. Taking up a responsibility can increase your confidence especially when you know that you can achieve everything without beleiving in anything else but yourself. That is to say, one day if there was no god u still have ureself to depend on. However if you feel beleiving in god makes you more peaceful in the sense that the confidence that you dont have internally is indirectly given to you by ure beleif in the supreme , then it is for your good.

So whether athiest or not is really a very individual thing , there is no right or wrong in it.......... "
