A, A' [A, A Prime]
A is for Adelade Lee, a nineteen year old computer technician assigned
to assist in the development of Munzel, Proxima's fifth planet. Adelade
Lee died in an accident. A' is a clone of Adelade, generated three
years before and left in cold storage on Earth. A' has just awoken.
Genetically she is a perfect match, a perfect replacement for her dead
self; yet to the staff working on Munzel she is a complete stranger.
She simply isn't Addy. Especially not to Regg, who knew the original
Addy so well. To him she's just a copy - or so he keeps telling himself.
A' holds herself apart from the group who have had three years to grow
together, knowing that she does not have the connection to them that Addy
once had. She's not the same person. Yet while she doesn't
bear the same physical scars that Addy once did, the mental ones are still
embedded in her mind. How can she make up for the three years of
life that make the difference between herself and Addy? Is it even
possible?

Mori is a boy with telekinetic powers, and a Kaleodoscope eye which
enables him to see into the infra-red spectrum. His main problem
is that his telekinesis never seems to work for him - until the day he
halts the fall of a unicorn girl, Trill. Trill is the main subject
of Proffessor Sazzan's investigations into the Unicorn race. She
has limited communication skills, and often mimics the cries of the birds
she loves. Mori and Trill quickly become close to one another. In
Trill's presence, Mori is capable of controlling his erratic powers - or
is he? An accidental loss of control suggests that a separation might
be in order - but is that really for the best? What about Trill and
the experiments which she hates? What will become of her if her only
friend, her only emotional outlet, is taken away?

Tacto has a problem. Merime wants to marry him simply because
he's pretty, and will probably become famous if his plans to terraform
Mars are approved. Tacto likes Merime, but he can't express himself
to her (in fact, he has trouble expressing himself to anyone...).
An-An and George try to help him out, an in the course of that investigation
discover that Tacto is genetically female rather than male. It also
seems that both his parents were male, and that Tact himself has no memories
of them. But Tacto has other concerns, too, as his team head of to
Mars with their terraforming proposal. On Mars, flying in his kite,
is Mori - and he can't seem to get unicorns out of his mind... What
will Tacto's father say about the situation? They can only wait and
see...
Unicorns were a genetic mutation artificially developed for space travel
in the early 21st century, particularly for dealing with computers.
They have ridges on their skulls, hence the name 'unicorns', with red
'manes' growing from the ridge.
Their ranges of sight and hearing are slightly different from a normal
human's - their hearing is more acute, and they can see into the infra-red
spectrum.
They produce an extraordinary amount of brainwaves.
They require less oxygen than a normal human.
They have shortened lifespans.
They are particularly susceptible to stress-related anorexia.
They have poor reflexes and can be quite careless and clumsy.
They have difficulty coping with and expressing emotions.
