DATA: Soryu Asuka Langley is a 14 year old female with mixed German and Japanese heritage. When she was approximately 8 years old, her mother committed suicide, and her father became withdrawn. Her relationship with him remains tenuous. She then was moved to live with her German grandparents.

She was selected by the Malduk Institute to pilot the EVA Production Model, and accompanied the unit to Japan with NERV-3 officer Kaiji Roji. Her excellent fighting ability was demonstrated during an attack on the UN Aircraft Carrier "Over the Rainbow", by the 6th Angel (code named Gighiel).

She currently lives with Major Misato Katsuragi and EVA-01 pilot Shinji Ikari.
