Additional info or how I became interested in anime and fanfiction:
|
I've always been interested in anime (as a very young kid, I watched series such as UFO Robot Grendizer, Captain Harlock, Astroboy, Gatchaman, etc) but really became an "otaku" with the first release of Sailormoon. From that point (good timing provided the Internet in my region), I started to talk with people who were into Sailormoon and anime in general and got introduced to this addictive world. Having discovered fansubs, shopping by mail and an incredibly extensive collection of anime tape at a nearby video renting store, I've now seen, more then 3 years later, over an hundred anime series/movies. Among my favorites series are: Rurouni Kenshin, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Slayers, El-Hazard, Tenchi Muyo, Record of Lodoss war, etc. And while some may argue that it isn't anime, I do also have a good interest in Disney animation movies (if they can get rid of the songs and the funny animal friend, it can result in good movies; I think "A bug's life" is proof of that).
I only really became aware of the existence of fanfiction in 1998. I had read a few SM fics before, but not much. I think my interest in fanfics started with my interest with Ranma 1/2 (and you all know how many Ranma fanfics there are). I only started reading fanfics seriously in the last part of 1998. I only became a fanfic author myself in February 1999, on February 14th to be exactly precise.
TOILI (well, originally the Prologue, previously named "Valentine's day: Ayanami Rei") is my first English work. Before that, I worked for years (ever since I was 14) on a still unfinished fantasy project named Allansia (nothing professional, just a huge story I write for fun as a hobby). I'll probably get back on it one day, making yet another revision, this time giving the story a bit of an anime feel.
