Rules for dating a Marine's daughter
This is our beautiful daughter, Ashley. After 3 years in Japan, we moved back to Orange County, CA... and after 6 years there she now considers it home :-/ So, when we moved to VA, she chose to stay behind and attend college in CA. Leaving her behind was probably the hardest thing I've had to do as a parent... but at 18 you can't hogtie them and drag them along with you. So, she will be attending Community College, with the idea of transferring to a 4 year State College later. She is living in a house with a group of girls, some of which she has known and loved since Middle School! And we are empty nesters... it is bittersweet. She is now 21, and theoretically an adult!
Ashley is working for the Gap these days, which she says she really enjoys... she started out as seasonal help, and was kept on as permanent part time help. She also has another part time job at a church pre-school, which is more along the lines of her major, currently Early Childhood Education. She has had two other jobs, other than babysitting... she worked at Curves for a few months in the first semester of her senior year of high school. In the second semester, when she was enrolled in Work Experience, she got a job at Pump it Up, and worked her way up to Supervisor!!! She always enjoyed babysitting, and has a real special gift with special needs children. She has volunteered with the Angelman's Syndrome Foundation, and has done several walks for MS.
Ashley really enjoys going to Disneyland and California Adventure, and has also been to Disney World, and to Tokyo Disneyland. But she LOVES Six Flags Magic Mountain!!! She had skied a few times as a child, but learned to snowboard as a teen, and eventually talked us into getting her a snowboard and all the trappings... She and her friends go to Lake Tahoe way more often than she can actually afford, and I am sure she will continue to be making more than a few trips to the mountains during the winters, to snowboard with her friends. She always does everything WITH FRIENDS! Ashley is a people person, and hates to go places or do things by herself. For years in high school, she would be found in the company of her best friends, Paola and Erica... in fact, they all three went to Europe together the summer before their Senior year, along with something like 60 other high school kids from 2 local schools :-) Now, she is living with them... along with several other young ladies!
