School choice is not really an issue here! There is essentially one school for K-12, M.C. Perry School. Even though M.C. Perry Elementary and M.C. Perry High schools are on the same campus, and share a lunch room, library, etc., they do have seperate offices and principals.

This is the new part of M.C. Perry; a new elementary gym, kindergarten and office space downstairs; grades 5 and 6 upstairs. The High School is behind on the right, and the Elementary is on the left. | |

For MC Perry alumni, there is better news! I have added a guestbook to this site, specifically for former MC Perry students who want to find their friends or be found. It's the BraveNet Guestbook on the Main Page. But there's more! There's also an MC Perry list server (now Yahoo, not Onelist). This isn't mine; it was put up by alumni... by the way, they had a reunion in the Summer of 2000, and plan another! Check it out, and get in touch!

The list stops at sixth grade; seventh and eighth are considered Jr. High, but are part of the high school. Obviously, the upper grade kids would need backpacks, and the usual school supplies. I know the high schoolers have lockers, and provide their own locks. On the subject of locks, security, etc.... the elementary kids leave their backpacks hanging outside the classrooms on pegs, in a blatant show of misplaced trust. Anything of value is in danger of being taken. Kids should leave their valuables at home, or keep them with them. And always LOCK YOUR BIKES!

Military Brats Online MC Perry is not yet represented on this page, but if you are an MC Perry alumni, and seriously interested in contacting others, you should submit a link. This is probably the first place alumni will look online for others.

7/14/99 Don't know who she is, but she traveled to many DODEA schools in Asia, and reported her travels on the Net :-) She visited MC Perry Middle School, according to this report.
There is also an English-language private school in Hiroshima, called Hiroshima International School. They have pre-school through Grade 8 in regular classrooms, and a distance learning program for high school students.

Homeschooling in Japan
4/28/2001 This is a well researched site, with a long list of homeschool support on and off line. It is, however, aimed at those homeschooling in Japan without the benefits of a military base- i.e., missionaries, native Japanese, etc. I put this here just in case there was an interest.
