Is the Japanese version different to the American dubbed series?

Yes! it is very very different! It has alot more drama, (well I think so anyway) in the Japanese series, Zoisite is a man, not a woman, so that makes him and Malachite homosexuals. This is also the reason why the new episodes in America are taking a long time, as they have to try to get around the fact the Sailor Neptune and Sailor Uranus are partners. Also in the Japanese episodes, when the scouts transofrm they are nude, and apparently in the very last 200th episode, When sailor Moon is attacking Sailor Galaxia, her and Galaxia are naked for nearly the whole episode.

The American dubbed series went right through "Sailor Moon" and the about 1/2 way through "Sailor Moon R" they are currently working on about 17 new episodes now.

This was the very first series of Sailor Moon, It was Mainly about defeating the Negaverse and the Rainbow crystals. Also in this series is when you find out that Serena is The moon princess and that "Sailor V" is Sailor Venus.

This series has 2 parts to it, Sailor moon Romance, and Sailor Moon Returns. Sailor moon Romance was actually done so the Manga (comic) could catch up with the series. In Sailor MoonRomance, Alan and Ann, 2 aliens, steal energy from humans summoning Cardian's, monsters that steal people energy. They needed the energy to keep thier Doom Tree alive which kept them, also alive. It ends up that Ann falls in love with Darien, and Alan falls in love with Serena, so Ann and Serena are fighting over Darien.(Serena likes Alan but thinks hes a bit weird). In Sailor moon Returns, Reenie/ Chibi-Usagi comes along and you find out that she is Serena's and Dariens daughter from the future in Crystal Tokyo. Also you see Sailor Neptune and Sailor Uranus.
