Presenting: Erik Nilsson, Composer - Pianist

Welcome

For those who would like to listen to some RealAudio while visiting
Vienna Online, we present
CL Florian's "Classical Surfing Music."
This is a showcase of broad talent.

Our featured artist for this month is Erik Nilsson, from Malmö, Sweden. A man after my own heart, Erik says: "All kinds of music must have the right to co-exist. ... Unfortunately, not all people are that broad-minded."
Listen to Alone on a strange planet from Erik's very first CD with the same name (1997, dB Productions).

The picture above is the CD cover of Erik's second CD (1999, dB Productions). He maintains a trilingual website, and Erik promised me that the English section will soon be up to date, for sure by the time you read this!

To describe Erik's uniqueness, I would like to note three things:
Erik Nilsson in concert
All his compositions are based on specific stories, situations, or moods. Erik's style is a mixture of 19th-century classical influences and 20th-century "inventions," like jazz and musical.

And finally, he is a most sensitive interpreter of his own music on the piano, interacting a lot with the audiences at his concerts that lead him all over the globe.

What I find mysteriously wonderful about Erik's music, is his ability to express very specific feelings with the piano alone. To make sure his audience understands them ;o) he does include album notes that tell the whole story behind each piece. One of my favorites, called "Kathy's Voice," reads: "...I phoned a friend in Paris. Her soft voice pronouncing those caressing French words cheered and comforted me, and I soon had the idea for a piece of music for her..."

Would you like to submit your musical talents as Classical Surfing Music? This is not a contest - every reasonable offer accepted ;o) If you are a composer, conductor, vocalist, instrumentalist, make music with a group or alone, amateur or professional, here is your chance for extra exposure!
Simply email Florian for any questions or with the URL of your file, and he'll take it from there.
