Moved to the U.S. at age 8 and didn't go back to Taiwan until I was 16
years old. After 16, I went to Taiwan every year at least twice. Also from then
on I have been an dedicated follower of Chinese pop culture.I believe my brother
and I have at least 100 Chinese pop CD's from various artists, including three
CD's from Valen. Now I am trying to get a BS in engineering.

Several months ago I downloaded an audio file of a song, but there was
no information about who the singer was. But it was a _beautiful_
song! After two or three more months, I finally found out that it was
Valen Hsu and the title track from her album "If the Clouds Know."
That's how I first found out about Valen.

Knows?"

Well, I noticed that Valen is almost exactly one year younger than me,
I am 23 years old. I like her soft voice and her unique style of singing. She
is also a native Taiwanese, and so am I. A few weeks ago, I got her newest
CD-er guang ji tsang (place de la sun airport). I wish I had her other two CD's
-lei-hai, and the other one...but oh well...Chinese CDs are pretty limited here
in Seattle...her newest (er guang ji tsang) almost sold out immediately...I got
the last one. But, so far...her "The Cloud Knows" (ru guo yin zhi dao) is her
best so far...the pictures and CD cover are most appropriate for this CD. I
always seem to picture a beautiful sunny day within vicinity of a beach or
mountains...or wide open space...when listening to this CD...anyone else?

I find that at her second album, her sining style is slowly being defined. Ri
Guang Zi Chan continued the style from Ru Guo Yun Zi Tao but Letting U GO the
last song in the album is different from other songs she had written.This song
was also produced by her shows that she is trying hard to be a singer who an
write, sings and also produces. Ri Guang Zi Chan is by far the best album I had
heard. Hope that she will keep up the good work and be careful not to be stuck
on the same sining melody. I will supports her for as long as I live!

Valen is a hard working and caring person. In Taiwan, people are saying that
Valen and A-Mei (another singer who is also very famous in Taiwan now) were
refusing to see each other in TV shows. After this rumor has been speard out,
Valen generously invited A-Mei to a show together. They had a great time.
Afterwards, Valen said that she would like to be good friends with A-Mei. From
here we can see what a nice girl Valen is!
I wish Valen fans continue to support her, because her songs are just wroth

I'm Liz, from Singapore. I remember when Valen first came to Singapore to publicise her first album, I kind of dislike her. Find that her style is "copying" Faye's style.
But when I heard her "Lei Hai" (Tears Sea), I changed my opinion of her. But I don't consider myself a fan of hers yet.
When my colleague lend me her Valen's "Ru Guo Yun Zhi Dao" (If cloud knows) album, I realise, Valen is indeed a great singer.

Hi there, this is a fan from Singapore. I've known Valen since
her first album through a local radio station. They introduced her Tao2
Hao3 and played it on the radio. I was pretty impressed by the polished
voice I heard and was wondering,"Must be a late 20s singer who has
trained very hard before attempting to release her first album..."
Imagine my surprise when the DJ said this new singer is only 20. I was so
impressed I went to get her CD soon after. Since then, I've been
following her music.
My fav album of hers is still the first though. But her 4th
album, I find it very good and is a close second. The second and third
albums had somewhat of a commercial feel to it, although I still liked
them very much generally.
