Carl Maria von Weber
Carl Maria von Weber
German, 1786-1826

Carl Maria von Weber composes some of the greatest and most difficult music I have ever heard. His works are generally very operatic, and his orchestral works, in particular, display an effective balance between string, brass, and woodwind instruments. His piano sonatas are EXTREMELY difficult, and considered my some to be even more so than Beethoven. Based on the works of his that I have listened to, I feel that it is a shame that very few instructors strongly encourage the study of his music.
