PRIMARY TARGET - DR. JULIUS NO
STATUS - Liquidated

Villian number one on Bond's list. Played by Joseph Wiseman, Dr. No is a sinister and thoughtful villian, very much like the character in the novel by Ian Fleming with the same name. Although he keeps himself inside his compound on Crab Key, his ruthlessness and cold calculation early on makes his well mannered and quiet apperance at the very end of the film even more intimidating.

SECONDARY TARGET - PROFESSER DENT
STATUS - Fired from his post

A well respected geologist, Prof. Dent, played by Anthony Dawson, attempts to stop 007 from ever reaching his destination at Crab Key, first by killing him with a tarantula, and finally, attempting to shoot him, where his Smith and Wesson revolver is just not enough.

ASSCOIATE - HONEY RYDER
STATUS - Unknown (Last seen with 007)

The first glimpse we see of Honey Ryder (Ursulla Andress) is at Dr. No's island paradise hunting for shells. Her apperance on Crab Key isn't welcomed by Bond at first, but she proves herself useful. Orphaned at a young age, she became educated by reading the encyclopedia. She also knew her way around Crab Key, helping Bond and Quarrel from being captured.

  • Q Branch was not created when Dr. No was out, but...
  • Bond's Walther PPK was given to him by Major Boothroyd.

    LITTLE KNOWN FACTS

  • 1. Thunderball was going to be the first Bond movie, but legal troubles with the co-author led to Dr. No being first.
  • 2. The budget was only $1M, but when costs ran over by $100,000, UA wanted to pull the plug for fear of not breaking even.
  • 3. Actors considered for the role of Bond before Connery included Cary Grant, David Niven, Trevor Howard, Rex Harrison, and even Roger Moore.
  • 4. The voice of Honey Ryder is not that of Ursula Andress.
  • 5. Connery is deathly afraid of spiders. The shot of him and the spider was first done with a sheet of glass between the two. This didn't look real enough, so the scene was reshot with stuntman Bob Simmons.
