Slow, but sure. That is how this little page grows. But, I have just found a new and wonderful site that you can use for information, links and resources and I am gratefully placing its link with the others listed below. The site, called "Kate's Place", is incredible and I am sure you will find almost anything you might need there. Another site I have come across recently, touched a very special cord in my life. It is "...a stream-of-consciousness type review of..." this special caretaker's life! I think I found On My Mind so comforting a site because since childhood, I have used the journaling process as a way of understanding and dealing with the different issues in my life. Just recently I decided to place daily journal entries on the web and, up until the time I found "On My Mind", I never considered these entries' potential for comforting others in this (caregiving) situation. Now, after seeing how soothing it is to read another's thoughts about a shared situation, I have decided to provide a link to my own journal page. Though I had originally thought I would only post here, the dates of those entries which dealt directly with caring for my Dad, I found that plan to be almost impossible to keep up. Just as being a caretaker absolutely permeates my life, so too it invades my thoughts (writing) with regularity. Consequently, I will provide only the JournalPagelink which will allow you to access all entries. One of the main reasons I want to do this page is to try and establish a network with other people who share this situation. I have found that the problems (and joys) associated with eldercare to be enormous and a support system vital to the caregiver's emotional andphysical well being. It is pure selfishness as well as altruism which motivates this page! Please contact me if you have links, information to share, or if you would just like to "talk" to a "buddy".
