Welcome Dear Friend! This list exists as a result of the growing number of us that are caring for elderly parents (or other handicapped or ill loved ones) in the home. People caught in this situation are being referred to as "The Sandwich Generation", sandwiched between the responsibilities of our children and our parents. Because this responsibility often brings a sense of isolation, this list was born to connect and offer comfort and companionship to you, the caregiver.

There are very few rules, but the ones that we have, will be strictly enforced!

This is a sanctuary. A safe haven for discussing and sharing our trials, tribulations and *joys*. Please honor this arena and do not reprint or share information that is submitted. Privacy is primary!

Communicating through the written word can sometimes be very difficult. One cannot tell if another is joking, serious, teasing, or just stating fact. There is no body language to help in interpretation. Because of this, it is easy for messages to be misunderstood. We are all adults here and we are all under extreme pressure because of our responsibilities. This listowner will rely upon the participants of the list to police each other in love and patient. But, because we all need love and understanding in a safe environment, there will be *no Flaming* allowed on this list. A flame is a written insult or argument. It can get out of control. It can completely destroy a list and seriously hurt the parties involved. If a flame occurs, the list owner will step in with a warning. If the offending party commits a second flame, THEY WILL BE REMOVED by the listowner.

Another item we need to remember, is we are all extremely busy. When posting to this list, please be sure that the "subject" area of your e-mail matches the contents of your letter. It is very easy to simply hit the "reply" button on our machines and forget the subject line. By properly using and editing our subject lines, it will help us to sort through messages in some order if our time becomes limited.

*(release restricted to subscribers)* This is the e-mail address which will connect you to "us". Any mail sent to this address appears to the entire group. It is an easy way to "talk" to everyone at once.

journi@oocities.com This is my personal e-mail account. Yes, I am the listowner, though I would prefer the title of "Big Sis" to this new family. I am not a computer guru so I will be learning right along with the rest of you how to work this list. If you need me, write me. I will do my best to help you. And please be patient with me as I do my best to get this forum of support underway.
