AAACK! My first day back to work after being on vacation for a week! Please explain something to me - When I'm in the office for a week, I average a whopping total of maybe 6 pieces of mail in my mailbox. So, how come, when I'm out of the office, my mailbox overfloweth??? Then, when I went to check my e-mail, I had 75 new messages! I spent the better part of the day responding to e-mails and catching up on stuff. My brain was just not ready for all of this activity! Fortunately, my boss was recovering from 'vacation brain' too, so things weren't as bad as they might have been.

Not much to write about today, since it was an overtime day, and unless you want to read all about how the pizza rolls that I ate for lunch kept repeating on me at the most totally wrong times, you're probably better off not knowing.

Lately, I'm finding it harder and harder to sit myself down at the keyboard and write. I'm not sure if it's the time of day that I choose to write my entries here, or if it's just that my life has been so boring lately. Of course, it couldn't possibly be the fact that I've been working overtime, and am just tired, now, could it?
Anyhow, I think I inadvertently caught up on some of my missing sleep today, by sleeping through my alarm, which resulted in arriving at work almost an hour late. I think part of my exhaustion is due to a lot of the recent stress I've been going through. I'm sure worrying about money doesn't help any either. It's not even that I don't have enough money to pay my bills, I just worry about actually paying them and getting everything done that I need to this month, like paying for my new niece's dresser that I promised as a baby gift. I think I worry about money too much, because my bills actually do get paid. At its worst, I'll end up eating macaroni and cheese for the rest of the month. I refuse to eat Ramen noodles - been there, done that, and I've promised myself never again. That stuff should be declared a biohazard! I remember years ago when I basically survived on that stuff, and I still can't believe I actually ate it for at least one meal a day! Actually, thinking about Ramen noodles brings to mind a list of other "Foods I Wouldn't Even Feed a DOG!":
Broccoli
Spam
Kettle Creations Chicken Soup
ANY chip or cracker with Olean in it
Campbell's Cream of Asparagus Soup
Hamburger Helper Macaroni and Cheese (and to think I used to love that stuff as a kid!)

I couldn't possibly expect folks to go yet another week without my comments on this week's Weekly World News headlines, so here they are:
Angry Girls Chain Cheating Boyfriend to a Post And leave him naked except for 'liar' sign over his privates! And yes, this one comes complete with photos. Poor guy, chained to a pole nekkid in Central Park, and people stop to take pictures of him!
Man Hides Knee-deep in Outhouse Pit - So He Can Ogle Women's Buns! I'm not sure which is worse - the story itself, or some of the captions they've added, like Royal Canadian Mounted Police finally crack the case! and She looked down between her legs to see a man staring up at her privates!
What the Size of a Man's Hands Tell You! And no it's not what you're thinking!
Viagra Suicide! Wife jumps off 1,00-ft. cliff to escape husband's constant demands for sex! I'm not even going to TOUCH this one!
Earwax Causes Ringing in the Ears Well....DUHHHH!

Today I saw my first dragonfly near the fountain in front of my office. I think dragonflies are really neat! I'm not sure why I think they're so neat, I just do. They're one of the fastest flying insects, because they have extra wings. Did you know that???
My mind has been filling up with some of the most trivial stuff lately, and it's been popping out at all sorts of weird times. Like right now, there's a country song that I heard ages ago running through my head. The words to it go something like this: I was drunk...the day my mom...got out of prison. That's it - those are the only words I remember and they keep circling around in my brain. I guess such stuff could come in handy when I'm playing #trivbot or #madlib, but it never ceases to amaze me how much utter JUNK I remember!

Today I spent the whole day with all good intentions of cleaning and doing my food shopping, but I just kept procrastinating about it until it was too late to do anything about it. It was one of my total veg-out days, and boy did I veg out!

Sunday July 12, 1998 |
Today was really slow at the VFW! I don't know where everyone was, but it was probably one of those Sundays where I would've done better to stay at home. Half of my usual crowd was missing, and we all ended up going home an hour earlier than usual. I was also starting to think about my 35th birthday which is coming up on the 14th, and how I've got nothing planned.
One thing I can say that I've accomplished this year - I promised myself that I was not going to turn 35 without overcoming my fear, and getting behind the wheel of a car at least once! My friends took me for a short drive in a Fresno parking lot while I was on my trip, and I got my first taste of being behind the wheel! I didn't hit anyone or anything, and I didn't go above 12 mph, but it was a start!

Will our heroine's brain continue to fill up with useless trivia???
Will our heroine survive turning 35???
Tune in next week, for the next episode of...
