Jennifer's Thoughts on Gentle Mothering

Gentle mothering is a parenting style that teaches our children that there are consequences to every action, yet, we do not have to spank them to get the point across. It also means that we want what's best for our children spiritually, mentally and physically. This means we breastfeed with child-lead weaning, share sleep with our children untill they "move out" of the family bed, and wear them in slings from day one to create attachment and bonding.

I feel gentle mothering is so important because in today's society, there are so many children that are "starved" for affection and attention. This causes them to look for attention in negative ways instead of the positive.

I think God wants me to parent this way because this is how he parented his only son. Jesus' mother, Mary, was a gentle mother, I think God chose her to be a model for all of us mothers.
