My exploration of HOTBOT

A simple search Kwanzaa
found 4840 references.

But the first screen allows certain limits. I chose limiting to all North America and going back 2 years. This search still returned 4320. I could clearly narrow this much further.

The SuperSearch was more flexible and user-friendly than Excite's Power Search. I limited it by domain (edu and govt) which was great for this search, as well as by date (last 2 years) and included history or principles. This narrowed it to 102 good educational sites, many with good links to others, but excluded many previously found gems like the Kwanzaa Information Center hosted by a commercial internet provider

There were many with relevance rankings of 99%. Most were good, but again included many commercial ones like Holiday Cards and businesses like
Kwanzaa Properties doing real estate.

It was great however to see various
Yahoo- Kwanzaa
pages coming up even including a UK one. A great find from my first naive search was the CNN Kwanzaa page.

The breakdown of the results into the amount for each word.

Being able to choose to include image, video, audio, rather than having to exclude it. This is friendlier to people with less computer power.
A nice touch.

Being able to see my search options confirmed
before I searched them.

The great descriptions of sites on the results screen

I was frustrated at not being able to limit to both the domain and the continent. I had to choose between.

Also the default on the continent search is North America.com
(a small statement about commercial values?)

Again Supersearch did not have specific help, eg with their use of Boolean logic

The teeny tiny font on the main screen and the garish blue and green..
