Music has always played an important role in my life and I have to say that I could not imagine life without the sound of a song, a melody or the rythm of a drum. Music is helping me to pull myself up again when I am down and out or lets me express the joy and gratefulness I have inside of me over being alive today. Somehow there is always the right song for the right mood. There where times in my life when I thought I could not make it or take it any longer. Amazingly, it where exactly those blue times when music was always there, when I needed it most. Without one or the other Song I am not sure, if I would have gotten as far as I have today.
I do enjoy Country Music the most - eventhough I do prefer the "modern" type over the classic C & W. Garth Brooks is definetly my favorite. Especially here in Germany, Country Music is often misinterpreted and misunderstood, eventhough the circle of Country-Fans is spreading steadily.
It is - wrongly so - compared to the german folk music (does polka ring a bell?)but whoever takes the time to listen closely, will realize that there are worlds between those two types of music.

By now, Country-Music has gone from being the "she-left-me-my-truck-broke-down-the-dog-ran-away-and-I-got-stonedrunk-let's-party-somemore"-beat to a medium critizing society and pointing out shortcomings in this world. Of course, there are still the songs expressing fun-loving, heartaches and sorrows.
Artists like Garth Brooks, Colin Raye, Vince Gill, Martina McBride and many others no longer simply sing about broken hearts and party-life but are aiming to pick up subjects which are just too common and often ignored in today's society. Addiction, domestic violence, prostitution, suicide, war, death and peace are all part of their repertoire. Even though, they do not write all the songs themselves, they are the ones performing them and therefore carrying a message to face a change to the fans out there.
And all of it is wrapped within lyrics which are easy to understand, so that the last "hick" (no offense intended here, honestly) will be able to understand, that there is a problem out there. All that, combined with great music, gives me personally enough reason to think about certain things twice.

But it isn't just Country music which finds a home in my shelf. Italian barde Eros Ramazotti, Phil Collins, Elton John, the german band PUR, Oldies and even Classics are among my CD-Collection. Like I said: there is a song for every mood. Just HeavyMetal, Rap, HipHop and Techno are kind of left outside. At least to me they have a very aggressive sound to it and not being hard of hearing I still often have a difficult time understanding the lyrics - as far as they have any. And lyrics and melody just go together - hear and understand!

As you might have noticed, while surfing through my pages, I have tried to associate a certain song with each page which reflects the contents of it. I don't believe I could have found a better one then "Music was my first Love" by John Miles for this page here.
Besides the links that you might already know from previous pages you will find a link down below taking you to my Archives Page. There you will find, amongst other archive links, links which will take you to where I have found most of the midis I have used building my webpage. And of course you will find links to other useful sites on the web like backgrounds, gifs, midis and lots more. Whenever you have the time, take a look around!

Have you met the family yet?
