Named after Deputy Sheriff George Cook who was employed in the 1880's on the Maxwell Land Grant, Cook Canyon Camp was reopened in 1985. It was used a trail camp in the 1970's before being closed and is located in Cook Canyon, midway between Old Camp and Dan Beard Camp.
