Juneau

                                                     (summer 2002)

The view from our apartment
At the end of our summer road trip we ended up in Juneau.  We caught the ferry in Haines and traveled four hours down Icy Strait to Juneau.

Here in Juneau we are staying across the channel from downtown, and have a fantastic view of downtown.

As an actual city Juneau has quite a lot to offer.  Chris is taking classes at the University and I am volunteering at two different libraries.  We are busy all of the time.

Six weeks in the city is enough to spoil us from village life.  We have our choice of more than six grocery stores, all with fresh vegetables.  Every weekend there is a concert in the park.  There are two movie theaters.  We've never had so many options.  If only it didn't rain so much.

We're headed back to Elim in August, but we might eventually decide to return to rainy southeast.
