Haul Away, Joe

Haul away,  Joe is a shantie well liked for its cheery humor.   This is a work song,  used when a good pull was need.

A-way,  haul a-way,  rock and roll me over
A-way,  haul a-way,  haul a-way,  Joe! (or pull)
A-way,  haul a-way,  roll me in the clover
A-way,  haul a-way,  haul a-way,  Joe!

3. A-way,  haul a-way;  git around the corner,  Sally!
4. A-way,  haul a-way;  lime-juice sailors!
5. Aw,  but once I was in Ireland,  a-digging turf and praties,
6. Aw,  but now I'm in a Yankee ship a-hauling on sheets and braces.
7. Aw,  but once I had an Irish gal and she was fat 'n' lazy,
8. Aw,  then I got a German girl and she was fat an' greasy,
9. And at last I got a Yankee gal and she damn' near drove me crazy!
