Favorite ways to get around
As in other sports, when it comes to kayaking, you've got to have the right equipment. Our kayaks of choice for Florida Intracoastal touring are the Aquaterra Prism and Swing by
Perception
. Both are sit-on-top models which are ideal for FL. You can jump off into the water to get wet and cool off and then easily get back on. The Swing features a handy storage well for scuba tanks, coolers, or your favorite pug dog. Alsley always wants to hop off into the water when he sees manatees (I believe he thinks they're related). We don't let him near the manatees, however, as they are an endangered species. They are also one of the reasons we choose to kayak...no propellers to hurt the native wildlife. Plus you get to see and hear things cruising around in a kayak that you would surely miss speeding around in a motor boat or on a jetski. There are several kayak manufacturers which I will add below as I run across them.
