   Newness

     The shadow dissipates 
     and I feel the fresh 
     sweet warmth of your love 
     encompassing me 
     like a lost blanket.
     You efface the pain and anguish 
     of love gone wrong- 
     your very essence fills me with peace 
     that I have never known before. 

     Once I believed in fairy tales - 
     actually presumed I had 
     encountered love already - 
     I even partook of the glory 
     of its intimacies;
     but never have I known 
     the affinity and the solace 
     I find with you, my love. 

     I long for the moment 
     when I can next be in you arms 
     feeling your strength 
     and breadth of your affection. 
     Oh, to taste the sweet flavor 
     of your tender lips 
     to savor forever in my mind 
     preserved in that moment perpetually 

     I have never grasped contentment 
     until today 
     and if this is true love 
     then surely 
     I have never experienced love before...
