ACADIA MINOR HOCKEY ASSOCIATION Meeting
Meeting - Wednesday, March 2nd, 2005
Hall of Fame Room Acadia Arena

Present: Dave Duncan, Carrie Hemmings, Lynn Connors, Sheila Bower-Jacquard, Mike Graves, Larry Rodriques, John Curry, Karen Smith, Cam Pongoski, Doug Eaton

Absent: Dave Deacon, Harold Fisher, Paul Murphy, Scott Bigelow, Dave Upton

The Minutes of the meeting of Monday, February 9th, 2005 were approved.

AMALGAMATION BROCHURE

There was a lengthy debate about the amalgamation brochure to be distributed to parents. The draft brochure with noted changes was unanimously approved.

QUICK START PROGRAM

Mike reported on the potential of selling the gear bags to the Quick Start parents, all in for $200.00 per bag. Parents supported a graduated fee structure for second year players who have completed the Quick Start Program. Motion by Mike Graves was that all second year novice players who have completed the Quick Start Program this past season shall have a reduced registration fee of $100.00 next season and further, that any parents or guardians wishing to buy their child's gear bag shall do so for a cost of $200.00, all in. Motion seconded by Lynn. Unanimously carried.

50/50 DRAW

Motion by Dave Duncan that in relation to the 50/50 draw all players of the Acadia Minor Hockey Association shall receive $.90 credit of every dollar sold in relation to the 50/50 tickets. Seconded by Larry Rodrigues. Unanimously carried.

EVALUATION REVIEW - PRELIMINARY RECOMMENDATIONS

Motion made by Dave Duncan. Seconded by John Curry that the preliminary recommendations attached as Schedule "A" be approved in principle. Unanimously approved.

IN CAMERA SESSION

There was a discussion held in camera in relation to the upcoming amalgamation vote meetings.

MIDGET MINOR AAA PLAYER

Larry Rodrigues was not present when this discussion occurred. A lengthy discussion occurred in relation to the interaction between Midget Minor AAA players and potential call ups to high school teams during play offs. It was noted there was no formal protocol in existence with the Association and with the high school teams dealing with call ups. Motion by John Curry. The player in question will make his own decision as to whether or not he will play with the high school team. The head coach is not authorized to suspend the player. The Board encourages the player to attend his upcoming AMHA Midget Minor AAA team practice. Seconded by Mike Graves. Unanimously carried.
